It's definitely the most time consuming thing ever when they send you back a big middle finger and say "Well...you can BORROW some money..." Fuck those guys.

If you consider a job would be way more time consuming then filling out the app for more money, I think it is worth the time. ;)

PS Nothing in life is free.

    We have an EMS here.

I can't get it. My parents make too much monies.

But my friend can't get it either for the same reason - only one problem with that.

She has 6 siblings. So she's getting nowt from them.

Jai, I had the same problem, my dad makes too much money and even though I have been living on my own and supporting myself for 2 years, I still can't fill it out independently with my own income until I'm like 23 or 24. Which is precisely why I am not in school.

    Yep, it's bullshit.

I wouldn't mind for myself but £30 a week for my friend would be really useful, especially with the crap she has to deal with. It bugs me.

What's more is I know another guy who probably will get the EMA because he only lives with his mum so he's probably under.

But, he's also got just one sister and she's like 19 and doesn't live with them.

I don't know, I just have been shot down by any counselors I've tried to talk to about it. It may be a Texas thing...I have no idea. I just know my friend had to go through ten tons of bullshit to file independent, and her mother was a drugged up alcoholic and she had been living with her grandparents and working full-time the entirety of high school AND she graduated valedictorian, so she had a really good story to get through. And still she had to take a semester off because she couldn't afford it. Right now I'm barely scraping by and have a lot of other things that have to come before school. I've only got a few more months until I turn 23 anyway.
