Did it come out even? I don't want to dye my dreads, but I thought some henna might be fun, maybe. Just curious really. If you have pics that would be awesome!!
It isn't hard to get off your skin, I don't know where you heard that. I mean it stains your skin since it is a dye if that is what you mean I wouldn't do it because it is a gritty thick paste that can probably take forever to wash but I guess the bright side, if you do use it, is if there is any left in there I don't think it would damage your hair any. I henna'd twice and hated the color of my hair if I didn't keep up with it.
probably from me seeing I did some henna on myself almost two weeks ago and have been complaining that the stain is still there * horribly faded* :ack2:
Not to sound bitchy but that is what henna is suppose to do. I mean it is a plant dye, so yeah it will stain your skin and stay there for a little while.
Maybe you can try to use some lemon juice to help lighten it more? I know what you mean by looking like crap because that is exactly what my hair looked like if I didn't henna it again after a few months.
Yeah I've tried a bunch of things, it's almost gone anyway. I used an orangey stain so it kind of looked like I drew on my hand with marker when it started to fade :/ Normally I get the dark brown/ black stain so it doesn't look as bad when it fades * which I will use next time* I've never heard of using it in hair before though
there is a coarser, lower quality henna thats used for hair. ive heard of people using it on their dreads, even if they have dark hair, for its conditioning abilities. it should be fine to use in locks provided you rinse well.
Yea, I don't think I will, just was curious if others had, and what their experience was. I'm far too lazy to worry about having to redo it and whatnot.
Henna fades on skin because skin exfoliates and sluffs off. Henna on hair doesn't fade any more than a regular colouring exposed to the elements. Unless you're using a real shitty henna or a boxed henna hair product (Might as well have bought regualar dye) When using henna for dreads, regular paste can be too dense and muddish - add something like Certo to smooth the paste to an easily rinsable consistancey. If you're not an idiot, you'll know not to squeeze the paste into your locks, which would indeed cause rinsing problems. Just coat the hair. I find nothing beats the shine, even months later and for those with more mature locks that aren't freaking about the tackiness of thier hair, it's a great conditioner.
I think henna fades differently than regular hair dye because the color penetrates the hair shafts which is what conditions the hair and adds the shine, so the henna will never truly fade away from the hair and always leave a permanent tint to it. Which is also why it is advised to henna your hair more than once and every few months to get the color you want.
