I love these berries... They are the first ones to ripen here in the Pacific Northwest of North America. For me though they mean a whole lot more than just that fact..

It means the start of somthing great. Over 40 types of wonderful food will be available for me to consume, natures gift... I will have to pay no money for fruit, greens, tubers, and much more....

All that is needed by me is to walk into the forest a few hundred feet from where I live. The best part is over 25 of the edibles people brush off as somthing poison, or they dont event realize they can eat it, and how tasty everything is they are missing out on...

    coarse I am being serious.
They don't taste to bad... when I was a boy of 9 me and my friend would spend our days down at our local creek eating tadpoles. However if you don't like the raw taste you can always fry them

SL I can understand how you could miss BC. I live in Ontario and I am constantly missing the east coast even though iv only been there * many times through out my life* to visit the G-parents. Ontario isn't very.. nature-esque :/

Im not sure about up in B.C yet, but there is alot of large red ones already down here around Vancouver, Wa....

I know some people though who like when they are that pinkish orange color, but to me they taste incipid unless they have turned red, or mostly redish...

since a lot of edibles don't grow where i live, i planted an orchard on my family's land. in 3+ more years ill have all the fruit i could ever want

i wish i could scavenge in the forest for food. the only thing around here is blackberries, native blueberry(nasty), and sassafras
