Just wondering if anyone else here listened to this wonderful band, they capture the 'psychedelic' sound so well in all of their music it amazes me. The band consists of two scottish brothers who are pretty reclusive but they have done a few interviews. In one of their interviews about a certain album they stated this - "We usually imagine our music to have a visual element while we're writing it, so we were picturing this character losing his mind at the campfire and compressing weeks of events into a few hours, in that time-stretching way that acid fucks with your perception." – Michael Sandison My favourite songs by them would have to be (in no specific order): Music is Math Open the light Hey Saturday Sun Dayvan Cowboy '84 Pontiac Dream Pete Standing Alone Olson Julie and candy Tears from the Compound Eye
They're okay, I've only heard The Campfire Headphase and it wasn't good enough to earn a permanent place on my hard drive.
If you like Boards of Canada check out "Tierra Azul" and "Mountain Lake" by Vibrasphere. that will be right up your alley.
i like them a couple somewhat similar bands that are also seeds on my "trippy" pandora radio station are: el ten eleven prefuse 73 and amon tobin
then you're a fucking moron. end of story. my favorite song is probably Roygbiv, but there are too many. Albums I love are Music Has The Right To Children, Geogaddi, The Campfire Headphase and In A Beatiful Place Out In The Country EP.
I posted an angry response but decided it wasn't worth stooping to your level. What's your problem? You have to call people names because they don't have the same taste in music as you? Are you really that insecure?
I dont understand how anyone CANT love the Campfire Headphase. It's by far my favourite album by them.
yea, porkstock, i knew about prefuse 73 and amon tobin for a while. both excellent. you should check out autechre, probably the most like boards. and prone, well, your taste must suck if you don't like boards of canada, thats it. accept it.
It was Dronelore, but it doesn't really matter. I guess some people aren't able to appreciate how amazing boards of canada really is, but no reason to get mad about it
yea, they're good. i LOVE Amon Tobin... ...for psychedelia, i'd advise you guys to travel back like 38 years and listen to Close To The Edge by Yes. it is my favorite album of all time Shpongle is great trip music. hundreds more...i think about music more than anything else, so i've got hundrids.
Yeah I've heard the song close to the edge, so I assume you would recommend the whole album? I will definitely have to check it out then
If only you knew how much I love Boards of Canada... They do live electronic music the right way by playing exclusive tracks and mixing up their old material. I HATE when electronic music artists do live shows and just play their songs. Where the hell is the creativity? If you haven't heard their live stuff I recommend that you find it, even though the quality is horrible on the bootleg live recordings(can't be picky I guess, at least they exist). My dream is to see them live at a beach during a sunset on acid, and just trip out. lol Anyways, thanks for the post, they definitely deserve their own thread. I have loved their music since about 1998, and will probably always love their innovative style.
Listen. LISTEN. If you like Boards of Canada, I fucking promise you that you will fall in love with Tycho. His music is BOMB. I'm def. a Boards of Canada fan but in this realm of music, Tycho takes the cake. I promise you all. Just take a listen... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H85BYqa5JDQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q049VuAjmLQ (this is a dusty brown remix of Tycho, who is also dope as fuck) this vid is just for kicks. not that Daedelus isn't badass though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYElsvpB8RA this is the 2nd edit, but I know you BoC fans will love it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQtnzYsCUtw
Yeah I actually read your post about tycho in the thread "chill music" in the stoners lounge, and then after I checked out his one song I downloaded patterns of reality. My favourite songs from it would have to be 'dream as a memory' and 'human condition'
