As I browse the site I see not many threads on ftm transitions and well it is nice to talk to people going through the transition, it'd be nice for people like me (the minorty of the trans) to be able to chat and share advice and stuff so post! -Thanks
although I can't say for sure maybe there just aren't as many. sort of like girls who play video games. there are some but MUCH less than guys who play video games.
I think the official statistic is 1 in 10,000 for females who's born physical sex was male, and 1 in 30,000 for males who's physical sex was female. I have to tried to work out why there appears to be more females trapped in male bodies than the other way round. There is a strong scientific theory that suggests gender is developed in the womb. Not only physical sex. A person born physically male usually has a certain amount of testosterone flow to the brain, which causes it to masculinise. In someone like me who feels female, but has male sex organs, an abnormal rush of oestrogen to the brain in utero causes it to develop the characteristics of the female brain. Or means that the brain becomes drastically feminised instead of masculinised. In effect, leaving the infant with the brain of a female, and the sex organs of a male. If this is the case, it would be easy then to assume that in people born the other way around, it's an abnormal surge of testosterone to the brain that causes the brain to be masculinised instead of feminised. Leaving the person with the brain set up of a male, but the sex organs of a female. If this is the truth of it, it is of course more likely for an infant to suffer an abnormal rush of oestrogen to the brain, than the other way around. Seeing as its women who have babies, not men. This would certainly explain why there appears to be more people born like me, than the opposite way around. While there is evidence to support this theory, it is not enough to prove 100% if this is the cause of people who are born feeling the opposite gender to the one assigned at birth because of the sex organs. But it would certainly explain why there seems to be more females born this way than males. Though there is new evidence suggesting that certain genes could also be a contributing factor in why people are born this way. There hasnt been much research done into the causes of this, but certainly the evidence that has been done, suggests a high likelyhood of it being brain structure, or a combination between brain structure and genetic setup, that causes people like me to be born like this. The first theory in particular would certainly explain why more females suffer with this than males.
Yeah I figured the more mtf part I just think that since there are less we need to bond together more, you know? I mean it's horrible either way and it's a horrible thing to endure I just need someone who's going through it because it's so hard to take this exact road alone, however mtf there are so many more, even though invisible soul's advice is very helpful I just want to know what it's like to be like this. So thanks everyone
i had a friend that was female to male but sadly we do not talk much anymore because he graduated last year :\
No, look if you're gunna be an ass and don't have anything supportive to say on the subject before you say something, don't say anything. Thanks.
I live in San Francisco and know many FTMs. Is there anything in particular you'd like to know/talk about?
hi im new. and finally taken the initiative to talk whit others like me. from what i understand im suppose to be FTM. im not sure, yet! but i want to be a man,i dont want to be female. i would really love it if i could have someone to talk about my experieces whit, who could tell me theirs so i could know better what I really am. please take good care of me. ^.^
Fairly or unfairly, they probably remain closeted more often because transition is a little more rocky since metoidioplasty and phalloplasty isn't that advanced, and in some ways, harder for society to accept the hormonal changes of someone becoming a man more than someone becoming a woman.
