they know that it can cause autism, the docs do know this but the chance is just so minor that its worth getting the jab rather than the possible death when they come into contact with regular illnesses

Many doctors will just roll your eyes if you choose to not immunize your children. Mine did. She does not believe there is a link.

For what it's worth, my son is not autistic and it was a result of the mercury or anything like that. His situation is different and is much more related to immunization children at a young age. He received his Hep B jab the day he was born. Yup... the day he was born he was immunized for something... :(

I am on both sides of the fence on whether or not there is a link. I think its quite intersting that Autism starts to show not too long after the MMR is given. I am quite glad that its not even an option for Yale, but is scares the bejeezes out of me the risk he is at with so many other families denying it. Not that I think anyone shouldn't just you know... I have two very different opinions on the same subject. :) I want to keep yale safe, and I want to keep him healthy :)

oh, btw, fuck the patch. they took it off the market b/c it was so dangerous. i was on it for a maybe three months and it was horrible. plus the thing irritates you skin b/c it is constantly tugging at it and lint gets caught in it. and it smells weird. plus, it's just unattractive.

on a side note. my boyfriend thinks i'm pregnant. lol.

I think there may be a link between MMR and autism, but maybe it takes a couple generations to develop? Whatever the case, autism is skyrocketing. 1 in every 16 kids are getting some form of it these days, and that's the CDC stat. And it is such a sad disease, being that the kid is normal in almost every way, except for their utter lack of connection to other humans, including their parents.

I don't have sex. Best contraception method EVER!!
Seriously though if I get married I would use the charting method, the Pill kills fertilized eggs which is so not cool

haha, I didn't read this entire thread, but I LOVE how at the beginning the men who think they know women's biology and anatomy fail miserably.

I also love the men telling women they need be to be on birth control. Wow.

I have a non-hormonal copper IUD; I like that it's simple, but I hate that my periods are so severe.

I was on birth control pills for several years; lost all interest in sex, and developed depression. Switched pills, and the dosage was too low. I looked up alternatives and ended up with the IUD.

As of now I'm thinking of removing my IUD, being fitted with a diaphragm and charting (which I do already).

Furthermore, charting is truly very reliable. There is a MASSIVE difference between the rhythm method, which assumes you ovulate on day 14, and charting. Charting makes no assumptions, you keep track of basal temperature, cervical fluid and cervical height, as well as any other supplemental signs you wish. It's as reliable as birth control because there is solid science behind it. If you assume you ovulate on day 14, you will get pregnant sooner or later. If you chart, you will know when you ovulate whether it's day 14 or day 30.

Actually this is just what I have heard, but from women who know their shit about birth control and fertility. I suppose I would do my own research when choosing a method. But until I'm married it won't be an issue anyway. And that won't be for a loooong time.

Sorry, what is what you've heard?

I have to say, I do know my shit. I spent several years in midwifery school. I would consider myself as educated as possible in fertility.

it does NOT. only emergency contraceptives (plan b) do.

on a side note, there is also a bar in SA called plan b. never been though.

we pull out. I've never been on BC but have taken plan b twice, before my pulling out days actually.

It's a bit different in one way because women are born with limited eggs. Once gone... that egg is gone forever. Sperm never ends (as we all know. HAHA) :)

I guess personally, I wouldn't care if all my eggs were gone now. I have one child and believe me he is enough for me to handle. So I may be biased ;)

sperm ends... quality and quantity] lessen with age too.
Yeah, there is still a lot more of them than the one egg
