Bruce Lee It's a sad, but true fact. You will never, ever, EVER be as cool as Bruce Lee. It's not your fault. No one will ever be as cool as Bruce Lee. Hollywood star, philosopher, master martial artist, cinematographer, author... Bruce Lee was an unprecedented mix of serenity, poise, charisma and intellect, and an unstoppable ass-kicking virtuoso to boot. Time Magazine named Lee one of the 100 most influential people of the 20th century, putting him in the company of Albert Einstein, Martin Luther King and Adolf Hitler, among others. "A fight is not won by one punch or kick... ...either lead a less aggressive life, or hire a bodyguard!" (Bruce Lee)
he had a shit haircut tho. Plus at 130 lbs or whatever, everyone in my town would be kicking off with him. And getting VERY badly hurt by him. Yep super cool.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruce_Lee#Physical_feats Lee's phenomenal fitness meant he was capable of performing many exceptional physical feats.[57][58][59][60] The following list includes some of the physical feats that are attributed to Bruce Lee although it is difficult to separate myth and urban legend from reality as many of these feats cannot be reliably documented from unbiased sources. Lee's striking speed from three feet with his hands down by his side reached five hundredths of a second.[61] Lee's combat movements were at times too fast to be captured on film at 24 frames per second, so many scenes were shot in 32 frame per second to put Lee in slow motion.[62][63][64] In a speed demonstration, Lee could snatch a dime off a person's open palm before they could close it, and leave a penny behind.[65] Lee would hold an elevated v-sit position for 30 minutes or longer.[59] Lee could throw grains of rice up into the air and then catch them in mid-flight using chopsticks.[53] Lee could thrust his fingers through unopened cans of Coca-Cola. (This was when soft drinks cans were made of steel much thicker than today's aluminium cans).[66] Lee performed one-hand push-ups using only the thumb and index finger[53][60][67] Lee performed 50 reps of one-arm chin-ups [68] Lee could break wooden boards 6 inches (15 cm) thick.[69] Lee could cause a 200-lb (90.72 kg) bag to fly towards and thump the ceiling with a sidekick [60] Lee performed a sidekick while training with James Coburn and broke a 150-lb (68 kg) punching bag[59][70] In a move that has been dubbed "Dragon Flag", Lee could perform leg lifts with only his shoulder blades resting on the edge of a bench and suspend his legs and torso perfectly horizontal midair
"Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water my friend." "Do not be tense, just be ready, not thinking but not dreaming, not being set but being flexible. It is being "wholly" and quietly alive, aware and alert, ready for whatever may come." Bruce Lee ~
I wonder what Bruce Lee's opinion on modern day MMA would be, also how he would fair against today's UFC light/middleweight roster?
size dont matter in some circumstances ,. for instance a .22 could kill a elephant, a 30.06 might not. All depends on where you lay your shot
MMA has "rules" it isn't real fighting... I remember the question was raised some time ago as to who would win Bruce Lee vs. Mohomad Ali... I'd say in the Boxing ring, hmm who knows?...:toetap05: On the street...Bruce Lee would pluck his eyes out in a split second! ZW
Jeet Kune Do also has rules and isn't brawling, just like the UFC. I think Bruce Lee would be more at home in a modern MMA contest than he would a traditional boxing match.
Jeet kune Do has no rules. It is a Martial arts system and philosophy. UFC is a contest or "game" if you will, with rules that include no eye gouging, no kicking in the head while they're down etc... Jeet Kune Do, on the other hand, allows anything that is effective. Bruce Lee was well versed in Boxing... If you read his book " The Tao of Jeet Kune Do" you will see more than a few pages devoted to western boxing. We must always remember, Bruce Lee has zero documentable fights to his name... A funny thing, considering the number of fighting professionals that held him in such high esteem. Bruce Lee was DUDE! ZW
It's not a rule or a principle. It is a metaphor on readiness and how to conduct ones life. There's nothing absolute about it. ZW eace:
I suppose your right, I wonder what Bruce Lee thought about Ju Jitsu and other "ground" fighting art forms?
Boy, the Gracie's in the early days of UFC really brought the spotlight on Ju Jutsu didn't they? Brazilian Ju Jutsu Dojo's have since sprung up like weeds! I don't think Ju Jutsu is primarily a ground fighting system, however Jeet Kune Do incorporates a lot of Ju Jutsu techniques within the system. Ju Jutsu is a complete system with kicks, punches, throws, and of course fantastic ground work, but what sticks out in my mind from my training is the joint breaking. Practicing the shit is really dangerous and more than once my overly zealous practice partner nearly dislocated my joints! You would be surprised how easy it is to do, if you know how. Like tearing a wing off a broiled chicken! ZW eace:
whats the sayin bruce said " first one to strike last one to hit???" i think i just killed it but anyone know?
