They should have totally made it in 3D.

Imagine a 3D Al Gore preaching at you...

That could potentially disgust me into conservation.

Where I live recycling is compulsory (plastic, glass, paper etc) otherwise you get fined and taken to court... Its a good thing though.
I have a car but barely use it, I walk or cycle.
Grow my own veggies, use as many natural products as poss (both cleaning products and personal products)
I guess I am mostly pretty 'aware'...

not all recycling is sufficiently efficient to be worthwhile

so, making it compulsory is idiotic.

aluminum is a good one though.

    I'm a little above average I think.

I recycle everything possible. I don't have hot water nor air-con at home.

I eat fresh food most of the time, 80%+ of which is grown extremely locally.

I don't buy tinned food nor fast food. I use only recycled paper at work when makking worksheets for kids.

    I never litter.

I do drive a small 100cc scooter but have taken to walking a lot recently as I've changed jobs and my workplace is a lot closer to home.

I think the worst thing I do is smoke, as I read somewhere that a lot of the hardwood that is harvested each year goes to tobacco-curing plants, but don't quote me on it.

    I think I do alright.

Harbor Freight, 45 watt panels, $200 per set, 3 sets,
Siemans 250 watt panels $500 used

    4 Deep cell RV batteries

    Low wattage florescent lights $250

12v volt to 120v ac inverters for household current

    Wire the house,

I guess all things considered around $2000

Off the grid, no bills every month, and independent

I don't litter, I decline plastic bags most of the time, I use public transport exclusively, I conserve water even though this is probably one of the last places on earth where lack of water would be a problem, and whenever I go diving I pick up trash when I find it.

I doubt I make much of a difference, but I'm definitely not making things any worse.

what do you do about refrigeration? i know that 4 batteries would be sucked dry QUICK by a conventional fridge/freezer combo..

do you find that 4 batteries are sufficient even during the low light days of winter or do you have to really mind your watts?

also where did you come across someone giving away the 250 watt solar panels? 500 for three is stealing them..

Most of my work is done on my home computer and I live two blocks from a large shopping area, so my mid-sized SUV rarely leaves the garage. I only drive to the grocery store once a week because there are too many bags to carry.

I can't go with solar power because my yard is full of tall trees and "green" city ordinances would not allow me to cut them all down. Their shade helps greatly with air conditioning needs.

I have no kids so future generations of my family will have zero environmental impact.

The only thing we do in an eco friendly manner here is not flush the toilet every time we take a piss.

And that's more to keep the water bill down than to be environmentally conscious.

I shower daily, but I cut my shower time in half.
I rarely keep the lights on, I just open the blinds and let the sun light up the rooms. I have a habit of turning lights off when I leave the room.
I don't keep water running when I wash dishes and I don't fill up the sink with water.
I rarely go anywhere so I don't use that much gas and I drive a fuel efficient car.
    I don't recycle, but I don't litter.

I figure that I'm about average.

people don't kid yourselves. we are all grubby consumers, which outweighs any level of eco-friendliness you have. you are not making a noticeable difference.

kats like hhb are a rare exception, arguably.

we are the sum of all parts...

    muhahahahhahaha.

I do my best. I have to travel overseas to get stoned, so I consider that carbon footprint Jacqui Smiths, not mine. Otherwise, I cycle, I recycle, I avoid as much plastic as I can, I try to buy ethically, ie. I never buy wine from outside of the EU, what's the fucking point in shipping it from half way across the world if we can make wine here!

But I use a lot of electrical appliances, so that is my bad. Although if I could live in a hippy community growing vegetables in the forest and smoking chillums all day, I'd do that instead.

My refer is a 12 volt portable, we don't use it much, don't eat meat or dairy

Local guy who tried it and his wife did not like not having a electric dryer

    We get by very well,

I would say that we're average.

We recycle, I find uses for almost everything (I have a really hard time throwing things away, I can always see other practical uses for things that others might simply toss away), I bike to the local stores when I have someone to watch the kids and I'm not planning on buying a lot, if not, unfortunately I drive a minivan.

Very conservative about electricity, we let the natural light from the outdoors come in during the day (we have a lot of windows in our house) and only keep lights on that truly need to be on at the time, I collect rainwater to water my plants/veggies, I use a water and energy conserving dishwasher, an energy conserving refrigerator.

I refuse to use styrofoam or paper plates/napkins. I only will use regular plates, and cloth napkins.

For drawing paper for the kids, I have my husband bring home old blueprints from older jobs he's completed. The papers are HUGE, and I just turn them over to the blank side and the kids can color/paint/draw all over them instead of my husband tossing the plans out.

We never litter, in fact, my kids and I have been known to pick up litter and throw it away when we see it.

In the warm months, I string a line up between my trees in the backyard and dry our clothes/sheets that way.

I guess that's about all I can think of right now.
