Received a 350mg sample of "mephedrone" from someone I once did business with. Many of you would now know this person as a scammer. Here's how the story goes...

I answer the door the the post man and immediately smell the all too familiar scent of meph. I sign... I close the door... i go to the lab.

    Let me reiterate...the package reeks.

I remove the bags from the from the envelope...then bag #1... and finally bag #2. Weight dead on at 350mg. But wait. This stuff is dark tan with blue-ish, purplish specks at approximately 1mm in diameter (5 of them to be exact). The tan substance is damp (not wet) and cakes easily.

    :confused1:

Marquis reagent returns an immediate medium Olive, transitioning to an Olive-Black after 1 minute.

SO anyone want to take a guess at what this might be?

    Here are my thoughts...

Reagent indicates 2C-I, 4-Acetoxy-DiPT, AMT (possible), or perhaps DPT. Or perhaps there's a contaminate substance skewing the results. In my tests, I've found what appears to be no change but upon closer inspection is a small volume of yellow (or very low volume olive?*)

But what about the smell? I've had my suspicion that it could be a byproduct of production that had not been properly handled. Perhaps a solvent that had not fully evaporated?

Or perhaps, what I have is one of the aforementioned materials that have been combine with a [the] agent that gives mephedrone it's smell. If anyone can offer an insight, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards...

sounds like mephedrone from smell and appearance. Don't know how it is supposed to react with marquis reagent though, I can ask around and find out. Dude sending it should have vac sealed it, shit reeks. I'm sure postman was like wtf.

Mephedrone is dirt cheap as well, certainly cheaper than DPT and 2C-I. So if you got those instead, count yourself lucky; it means the vendor is incompetent, not a scammer.

Mephedrone should have a barely noticeable indication of yellow (essentially no reaction). IMO...best way to test is set your sample and drop your Marquis reagent beside the sample so each barely touches.

Perhaps mephedrone scented laxative? Maybe the scent is what reacted Olive Green with Marquis.

i can only imput on the 2c-i possibility, which i doubt.

2C-I is usually an eggshell-white colur, with almost no smell. furthermore, 350mg of it would be worth ~50-60$

thats weird dude. when i got my mephedrone, it was white and had very little odor. i could only smell it if i put my nose right up to the bag, it smelled kindof like a cross of soap and black licorice.

That is my experience as well. Anyone have additional thoughts as to what would react dark olive with Marquis?

There is a batch of mephedrone going around that is dull yellowish (possibly dark tanish is another way to describe it) and smells very strong. Seems to be the majority of meph on the market atm. Keep in mind VERY slight impurities in a chemical can lead to drastic changes in smell / color.

thats odd...a friend got a bunch just 2 weeks ago from a legit, trusted, and well known vendor, and it was snow white like always, with the usual odor.
