Name your numero uno #1 rap song of all time or your top 3 P.S. I don't care about how hard it is to choose, just choose one or three to name P.S.S. Stoner Rap is where it's at My favorite currently: Devin the Dude - nothin' to roll with
Rap sucks, except for that old school shit like Biggie and Tupac, (when they actually used instruments) so I would say anything by those two
awww weedwhacker, you can't just call off a whole section of music for not using instruments. by that rule of thumb, more than just rap would be discredited. as far as favorite rap song? I dunno...I have a whole lot. J Dilla - Won't Do Black Milk - Losing Out this song is live Wu Tang Clan - Shimmy Shimmy Ya As for all this rap sucks talk - suck on it, haha you don't know what rap is
haha yea i probably shouldn't but for some reason growing up only listening to rock from the 60's and 70's songs without instruments lose their appeal for me, not sure why. however, I downloaded "Crack a Bottle", featuring eminem, dr dre and 50 cent, and i kinda like it, it's fun to play in the car
Rap (hiphop) is so much more than instruments. It's about sampling. An Akai MPC-5000 is just as much an instrument as a Fender.
Bitching about the lack of "real" instruments is the dumbest thing ever dude. I'd like to see you make anything even remotely listenable with a MIDI controller and say it takes no talent. As for the OP: Wu-Tang Clan - Aint Nuttin ta Fuck Wit
If you want beef then bring the ruckus... Hiphop seems to be such a struggle for some people to listen to, they make up stupid reasons to not listen to it. As soon as I gave up on all that lame shit and actually started getting into the scene, my life changed - seriously. Hiphop is more than just music - maybe it's intimidating to some?
I never said I think instrument-free songs are talentless, I just really don't like their sound. I think of them in the same way I think of bagpipes, I can appreciate the skill it requires but I just really don't care for the sound
As someone who plays guitar and drums and also owns an MPC i can say just as much work and skill is needed to make a good beat as there is to make a good song with "real instruments". Not my favorite but I've been listening to it a lot lately - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqPF0duOPeQ - T-rock - county of crooks great song - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPOWrEIPYXE - Figaro by madvillain (doom)
From the mouth of the beast :cheers2: haha I really wish I was into producing enough to warrant the purchase of an MPC Even lamer excuse. Click on J Dilla - Won't Do. That's called sampling, man. There are most definitely REAL instruments being used in that song. J Dilla is a pioneer of sampling and most producers have their own drumkits and styles they use. The RZA being an example.
Fair 'nough, didn't mean to single you out or nothing, it's just one of those things you see ALL the time and it gets to a point where you're just like AH STFU :cheers2:
You all know this song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gK1e2TCFAA I know it's a cliche song, and it's not even my own personal favorite song, but that fucking beat combined with how tight the raps are and how well Snoop and Dre work in and out together can just never be beat
Ya , i got it from a friend for cheap, i still dont think i could justify dropping a grand on a new one... if you dont wanna spend a lot you can always make do with an mpd but having to use a computer makes it lose some appeal. there are some good workstation keyboards out there for cheap that have built-in samplers.
Illa J (JayDee) - Me and My Brother <- J Dilla's sampling skills at large I fuck around with Reason and FruityLoops a little bit, which is plenty for me. If I got a MIDI controller I'd be set for what I do...which isn't a whole lot - but it'd make it easier
I tried to get into producing but I don't even know how to play a "real" instrument. The dream's still there though.
1. Juicy/Big Poppa(couldnt decide between em) Notorious B.I.G. 2. Nuthing but a G thang Dr. Dre ft Snoop Doggy Dogg 3. California Love Tupac ft Dr Dre/Fuck the police NWA
1. Phil Collins Ft. Tupac - In the Air Tonight 2. MIA Ft. 50 cent & lil'wayne- Paper Planes (remix) 3. Lil'wayne - Lollipop I used to hate rap but then when I started smoking weed I found an amazing ability to spit sick ass ryhmes when I'm high.
