I am 11 weeks pregnant. I know that it's to soon to tell yet, but I really do think I am going to have a boy this time. Here is my problem, I have no idea how to take care of a newborn boy. Mostly with the bathing and diaper changing. I only have girls now, and I don't even have any brothers. I don't plan on circumcising (sp) him. So dose that mean I have to do something speical to clean his genital area when I change him and give him a bath? I feel kind of wierd asking this, but I really just don't know what I am supose to do
Once the foreskin is retractable, you'll have to pull it back to clean it. I'm not sure at what age that happens, though. Beware of the sprinkler!! (I have all girls, too, so don't take my advice as fact!) Remember how terrified you were when you were pregnant the first time...not knowing how to take care of a baby at all?? Then, once you held her, you knew exactly what to do...I imagine it will turn out the same way. Once you hold your little boy for the first time, you'll see that he's not so scary!! BTW, if you are firm on no circ'ing, don't let the dr. or nurses try to scare you into doing it!!
You do nothing except wash the outside. You should never, ever, ever retract a baby or child's foreskin. Most boys are not fully retractable until right before puberty, at which point you won't be handling it. A boy whose foreskin is retractable should be taught to retract and rinse with clean water, never soap, and replace. It will be his job, not yours. It's much more difficult and time consuming to clean a girl than an intact boy. Girls have folds, boys do not. And their testicles are not that tender, they can handle being wiped. The tenderness comes later.
See, I am boy-illiterate!! I knew not to force the foreskin back, but had no idea that it didn't retract until puberty!! Thanks for amending my advice.
From a mommy with 2 boys and 1 girl, cleaning a poopy diaper on my little girl is a LOT easier than my boys are/were! *lol* With the boys, stuff would get everywhere, all over their equipment, and I am/was forever having to lift parts and make sure they were all clean! There's no other differences as far as caring for them goes. Both sexes are pretty much the same with baby care! Hugs...
Changing the diaper of an intact boy is less work than diaper changing of a cut up boy, or a normal girl. The penis of an intact boy is protected, all you have to do is wipe it off, get the poo from under the little balls and there you go! Girls have all those crevises you have to be careful to clean, and circed boys, man, what a hassle! The pee burns them, the poop burns them, they cry when they go, they cry when the diaper rubs them, you have to mess with vaseline and gauze and God knows what and then it gets infected. Intact boys are a breeze. Just leave it alone and keep the outside clean! My boy is intact, but I have done doula work for cut boys. It made me cry, really. Those poor babies. You have made the RIGHT choice when it comes to your little sweet boy's penis! GOOD MAMA!
I have two girls and one boy and we never did anything but exerted gentle pressure to make sure he was clean as a baby, only allowing to pull back as far as it would go. Our Dr showed us how and we taught him to do it when he was three. Never had any problems, girls are much harder to get clean lol! Congrats and good luck!
Actually NO pulling at all should be involved. Never take intact penis advice from doctors who treat mainly circed boys. And NEVER let a pro circ doctor TOUCH your boy!
don't pull his skin back just clean him with warm water and whipe him like you do your doughter with whipes etc. You don't have to pull down his skin or do anything special of hes uncirced. """Actually NO pulling at all should be involved. Never take intact penis advice from doctors who treat mainly circed boys. And NEVER let a pro circ doctor TOUCH your boy!"""This is true. Once at a well baby checkup a doc asked me if I had ever pulled my sons skin down I said no and she did it to him anyways and ripped the tip of his penis skin he was in pain for weeks. Seriously it's self cleaning.
