First let me start by saying I have heard many people say opiate painkillers don't do anything for them. My condolences. Oxycodone for me is like the high after an orgasm, but better. So I just can't believe some people can't experience that. It's my favorite and I have a free constant supply. But, getting to the point...my man has been prescribed 20mg adderall and I was real excited having heard/read about all the people that swear by the stuff. First I tried 20 to get a taste. Then 40. Then 60. Each time..nothing! Well...I can't say nothing. Energy, yes. Euphoria? No. Worth doing again? No. I felt slightly speedy and then crashed with intense restlessness and something similar to PMS. Should I take more? I figured 60 should do the trick. I have also used cocaine 5 or 6 times and had a similar experience. Never felt that amazing thing that everyone gets so excited about. Does biology explain this? Do I lack the necessary receptors? Or am I low dosing? It seems a waste to have such a highly controlled substance around all the time and not able to utilize it Thanks ahead of time for any input!

I might try it a couple more times. I might mix it with some percs to see if that makes a difference lol. He sold some of 'em and now that hes short on his pills he's wishing he hadn't lol. He really does need them. You're onto something though, maybe I do have ADD! I didn't do too bad in school though and I went through college ok and got my B.A. in psych without much of a problem. Wouldn't I struggle more if ADD were the case? I dunno. I guess stimulants just aren't my thing! Damn...and I was hoping I had something new and could maybe drop 10-15 lbs. in the process. Haha oh well!
its a myth that it affects people with ADD differently than people without it. ADD is not an issue of neurochemistry. it is not a pathology. amphetamines help all people focus better if used properly. and the effects described are pretty much what you get. some people find it extremely pleasant, some find it neither intensely pleasurable or unpleasant, some find it rather unpleasant. personally i hate the shit. it will give you energy, stamina, and focus. you will be able to do greater amounts of work in shorter periods of time. some people find the increase in energy very pleasurable and enjoyable, even on its own. some just don't, even if they can feel it. sometimes you have to learn to like the effects of a drug you're new to. if this is the case, there is no reason to use it again, especially if it is something which is potentially addictive. half of the drug in adderall is levoamphetamine, and the other half is dextroamphetamine. levoamphetamine is supposed to be far less euphoric than dextroamphetamine, according to most speed enthusiasts. of course, other amphetamines such as methamphetamine are supposed to be even better. amphetamines can be dangerous and extremely unhealthy drugs. if you don't like the effects at 20, 40, or 60mg, then don't keep pushing it. it will get stronger, but if you don't like the effects they wont get better than they already are, just more intense - including the side effects and "crash." apart from that, at high doses you'll start running the risk of serious health issues as a result. just forget about it. you don't like it, so don't fuck with it.
Amen When you have to keep upping the dosage to get any effect at all, it's definitely not a good idea to proceed. Just forget about it and try something else or whatever.
nesta...thanks for the great reply. I think you made me realize something. I think the effects of adderall are what I'm already feeling and trying to get away from. I'm very anxious and a compulsive perfectionist. I'm constantly making lists of things to do in my head and figuring out my next logical move. I smoke about 2 ounces of pot a month just to keep my mind from going into over drive. I guess I should have known a speedy drug would make the insanity worse lol. I figured it would help me gather my thoughts and make me feel good but it makes me fidgety, restless, irritable. Well...during the times I was sitting here at home taking it. But when I took the 40mg I went to the Detroit Auto Show with my family and even though I love cars I was unusually excited to be there and wanted to run a marathon from one car to the next. I was talking my brothers ear off the whole time. It was a good feeling but I guess since it didn't "hit" me the way opiates do I wasn't sure it even affected me. But, looking back that was definately not the normal me lol. Halfway through the day though I started feeling dizzy and hot and was chugging $3 water like it was the last left on the planet. haha I guess I was just comparing it too closely to what I already knew. I've never done adderall to get "high", I've mainly used it for all nighters (back in school) or to concentrate and get many things done when I would regularly get tired and only get half the amount done...for recreation, I'd say do a lower dose (like the most 30mg) and smoke a little pot, it's a fun buzz and it counteracts the sleepy effects that weed can have when you are coming down.
The thing about amphetamines affecting people with ADD differently being bunk, I'd say you are half right. Yes, it makes everyone focus better, yadda yadda yadda, but, when you give an ADD kid an adderall, they do thing that they don't normally do, like concentrate. If you gave me an adderall ( I don't have ADD), I would be super speedy and tapping my feet like crazy and talking like a motherfucker. Now, everyone is different when it comes to drugs, but I do think that in general, amphetamines have a more "beneficial" effect on people who can't normally concentrate. That's my two cents. i only use adderall if i have to stay up and study, i don't consider something to take for recreational use.
Adderall is not a euphoric drug, while there is a period of time (~hour) of mild euphoria, I have never known anyone that takes adderall to get high. Adderall for my friends and I is about hightened senses. Everything feels better and everything is more entertaining.
Adderal is my favorite drug. I love it and would never turn it down. I mean they are cheap and last a long time. I get them usially 2-3 a pop and one 20-30mg pop will last the entire day for me. I love it becuase I always feel incredibly happy and my face tingles and i am really shaky and hyper and i can sit and hold a conversation for hours. I do stuff i never normally do like clean my room or do my homework. Then again, i think i have ADD becuase not on adderal its impossible for me to concentrate and i get straight F's.
maybe you just dont like uppers. if you can, try dexedrine. it's dextro-amphetamine, and adderall is a mix of dextro and levo-amphetamine, the latter is not as recreational. I took 40 mg of dexedrine about 6 hours ago and am still feeling it a little, although now it's mostly leftover stimulation.
