but i buy a good amount of cds (once every couple of months maybe, probably more) and a ridiculous amount of vinyl. i like my music extremely tangible, thanks very much (i've never bought an mp3, i don't see the point of buying something i can't hold in my hands!)
started a while ago downloading mp3's, probably only have a few of those songs remaining. Then I began downloading with questionable legality, but that left me with a lot of artists where I only had 1 or 2 songs, which included a lot of one hit wonders. I started only buying cd's in college, which helps me find songs that I don't buy the cd for. Like I bought my first Goldfinger cd a while back and a few of my favorites songs from the cd I hadn't even heard yet when I bought it. .
I do buy CDs for one of two reasons: I had it once on vinyl and want it again, or I am supporting the artist. (small and medium time artists)
I can't imagine having 2000+ CD's. I had a few hundred once and it was hell trying to sort through all the ones I diden't want and sell them.
I DO buy mp3s but I don't care for having to do so.. some of the bands I like though end up releasing their cd's only as mp3s and that annoys me to death. I like CD's - they're tangable and if something happens to a CD you can just go buy another copy (depending o what cd it is). I know the problem I'm having now is that I can d/l mp3s and put them on my ipod - but my actual computer has a problem and wo't burn the songs to a CD Sucks.
I kept it up for a long time but eventually gave in. I still make the occasional trip to the used CD store though.
omg - no CD players, are you serious? I've had a cheap one for a few years but need to get a new one b/c mine is making my CD's skip. I buy CD's all the time!! I'm on Amazon and sometimes Ebay looking for CD's of music I found on myspace. I love my music and don't car to buy mp3s (when I can help it) b/c my computer has so much of a problem and doesen't burn CD's. It's such a waste to pay $10 or so for an MP3 album and then not be able to burn it!
