I dont know anyone that crochets and its really annoying as im pretty much addicted and do it all the time! This means that I have loads to say about it,I get excited when I buy some pretty wool or I make something cool or if I need some advice there is no one there to ask. When I do talk about it no-one shares my passion and my friends just are'nt really interested. They are more interested with whos on facebook etc..... I guess it just goes to show that I dont have alot in common with them anymore. But it's just bit sad. There are no knitting groups by me,and I doubt I would go anyway as Im not good being with a load of ppl I dont know. Anyway sorry this is bit of a moany message but just wanted to tell someone. Hopefully Ill meet some ppl on here but this forum seems really quiet
i can crochet a lil bit but im not that good..... i want to know how to knit and macreme too though...
aaw, thas sad : ( im lucky that i have my bf to converse with about crocheting : ) (dont mean to rub it in!) i know what you mean about different friends though. when i conversed about knitting with them, they have a proper 21st century view on it, like "thats for old people!" ive just changed alot, kind of left them behind, with them absorbed in their egos. aand i have become a less sociable person, i dont really like being with loads of people i dont know either, especially if theyre extreme facebookers:cheers2:
Hope your throws going well! I had one given to me by mum for xmas which was really cool its purples and its prob one of the best presents Ive ever had.Perfect for snuggling or just chuckin over you went your sat gawpin at the pc lol! What colours are you doing? And is it straight lines or granny squares or something equally amazing? And Samee we must have good boyfs as I can babble to him too!!! not sure hes listening though.haha
I love to crochet too!!! I can knit a bit but am much better at crochetting. At the moment, our house if being finished up so most of my yarn and hooks are in storage but I still drool regularly on yarn catalogs and bore people about it-or find other yarnaphiles and talk about it. I am working on an afgan for my brother-he wants one that is 7'x7' and a prayer shawl for his friend who's husband died....I want to do some granny square things for myself too.. hugs and you are not alone!! peace Delfynasa
Hey, Hush bull, you could learn to crochet too Or swap maybe hugs peace, Delfynasa if I weren't so behind on what I need to crochet I just might make you something... what sort of thing are you interested in?
Hi there I've just started knitted again (i'm 21 and was taught it in primary school) Learn't to purl last night and have made three bracelets. I'm going to learn to crochet this weekend Can't wait. No doubt you'll be hearing form me again. Currently knitting my fiancée a scarf (my first one!) Peace x
i love crochet!! i'm much better at it than knitting so it tends to stress me out way less. and i'm addicted to yarn... which is a curse... but then crochet is the only thing i can do that keeps my attention for long enough! i'm really distractable! you can add me on facebook if you want to share your crochet stuff! heh. but yeah the boards tend to be quiet around here.
I can't crochet very well, always crooked. But I love to knit! I too, don't have anyone to talk to about knitting which is why I go to ravelry. I love knowing how to knit and having dreads, I can now make awesome (cheaper) tams or berets!
I love to crochet. I've started so many projects started I'm not sure what to do next. I mainly make tams and dreadsocks though. I love it!
I am crocheting a scrappy baby blanket in a shell pattern right now... No one I know crochets, either. My uncle's gf at the time taught me to crochet about 30 years ago...the rest I have taught myself from books.
My bf always jokes that I crochet more than an old lady in a nursing home. Yet she's always asking me to make her something so I think she secretly enjoys that I crochet as much as an old lady in a nursing home. I was a lonely crocheter, too, until I joined a class and now I have 7 or 8 other friends to crochet with. This week we're all going to meet up to crochet for a bit, go out for lunch, and then we're all going yarn shopping together. I don't care that they're a lot older than me, they're great ladies.
im planning to try crocheting some belts, theres some cool ideas i found where you make your band, and then lace it up like a corset. i hadn't thought about that! ive been learning embroidery lately but i have a car trip and need something less stabby to do. crafters are secretive i think, because if everyone knows, then everyone wants a _____. and i like hanging out with older ladies too. the unitarian church has a great bunch of ladies, they have a quilting group as well as a yarn group. very cool.
I crochet too! I actually go to a knit night over at a friends, and they all knit while I crochet. Currently I am making a head scarf in a lace weight for my unruly roots, but I am going to pop on a side project of a wool hat to sleep in. Its a worsted weight so it shouldnt take me long.
Crochet is so fun and versatile. After learning, I taught myself to knit, and at the moment I prefer knitting; but still like getting the hooks out from time to time to make things. I understand where you are coming from Chemigals. Once you've developed a serious wool habit, it's hard to stay quiet about it, and those not into it sort of tune out when you start going on about colours and textures and fibers - oh my.
