Don't buy cheap glass

a welded downstem is a sign of cheap glass.. the downstem should be pulled out from the glass.. not welded onto the glass..

 

I may not have phrased that properly, but you know what I meant.^

It isn't a sweatshop bong, it is made by a local blower, but what I am told is that there were 2 guys working together (one as an apprentice or something) and the more experienced guy moved and left the new guy in charge, and his lack of experience shows when the bong chips like it did. I'll throw some pics up in a bit.

Alright here are some quick pics...it's pouring rain outside and my room has shit lighting to begin with, so these are the best I can do without setting up lights.





There is where the chunk of glass came right off by pulling out the rubber cork. It's dirty like that because that is the diffused stem from my perc, the one that came with this bong is still very clean as I only used it once.

 

I would definitely be upset.

Who the fuck would use a cork in a bong?

No wonder that piece of shit broke. Oh well, maybe you can fix it yourself.

 

They are solid for the price. Cost me $90 which I consider cheap when compared to name brand bongs. The cork is nice on my perc because it makes it extremely easy to clean, but other then that there are no advantages. I slept until 4pm today so I didn't make it to the headshop, but tonight I'm gonna crash earlier and head over there.

 

I can't wait till I turn 18 in a month just so I can look around head shops.

 

Do you need ID to even go in headshops there?


It doesnt look like too much glass came off but then again no glass should be coming off at all

 

The glass around the down stem appears to be 1 or 2mm at the most.

5mm should be the minimum.

 

I bought a glass pipe one time; it broke the same day I got it. I rather stick to metal or wooden. Did I forget to mention I was drunk and high when I dropped it :tongue:

 

I lost you about halfway through that, but from the sound of it you just bought a bad brand. Gernerally brands are awesome like roor, or shitty. I play it save and only buy from headshops that have their own blowers, so its sort of smaller scale. One time I bought what is probably the coolest and best pipe I've ever had (unfortunately my 11th grade year my mom found it on my desk and threw it away in some random dumpster). But when I bought it the guy was like "you wanna see a demonstration?" I had no clue what he was talking about, but I was high so I said yeah. Then he proceeded to chuck it as hard as he could into a wall. It didn't even chip.

 

The blower that made this is local. I went in today and the owner called him and he wouldn't warranty it, so the shop wouldnt do anything. They have a card though that they stamp every $20 you spend. I got 5 stamps when I bought the bong, and once it is full you get 1/2 price off anything in the store. He gave my 5 more stamps for free since it cracked. I'm just gonna get some aquarium glue and fix it up...not much else I can do.

I went into the other headshop in town that carries RooRs and asked about making an order. They said they can get any of the roors listed on edit, but at a better price and that they are putting in an order in the next week or so. I'm gonna go in on wednesday and order one similar to what I linked earlier.

sort of, the bong is still cracked though, but I don't really care. I bought it as my new portable bong and since it's already damaged I won't have to worry about it as much when I bring it out.
