Why do gay people? care about a marriage recognized by the state? I can't understand the fuss about Porp 8. The do-good-ers will not accept gays no matter what they do. Why would anyone bother with a state wedding. I can understand folks wanting a church wedding but the state? who cares?:confused:

I think a lot of us just want to be equal. We won't stand for being second class citizens, or having something "seperate but equal".

No-one is EVER equal in a capitalist society. It's that simple.
I don't see it as a struggle to be accepted, because who gives a shit about that?
It's all about legal rights from where i'm standing.

What the hell makes you think I was talking to you and not the OP?
Leave your ego at the door on the way out.

Because I'm the only one who mentioned equality. And you addressed Kengee's acceptance comment, and Kythlo's legal rights comment. You were addressing all of us. You won't admit to the definition of words, you won't admit who you were talking to... You're impossible.

How do you know I was talking to you and not the OP? Because it's pretty obvious, that's why, and I'll cop to it.

You brought up a point about equality, so did I. A question was asked by the OP, I gave an opinion.

Believe me I have no desire to talk to you.

For what it's worth considering that kengee is apparently another "guest" who makes one post, stirs up debate and disappears, but I will address this lame question.

Who cares? The survivor of a long-term marriage who will NOT receive survivor's benefits like the heterosexual couple.

I am getting close to retirement age and just discovered that I will make more money applying as a survivor of my late wife. Nevermind that we divorced before she died, it still counts because we were married for over 10 years.

Now a couple of old guys who have been living as domestic partners or significant others for 30 years won't get that. Does that answer the lame query about who cares?

(A suggestion to the mods: Can't we set up the board so that a person must be a MEMBER for a certain amount of time before they are allowed posting PRIVILEGES?)
