Hardcore cultural? Hm. I don't think so. I'm fairly in touch with my culture considering but there are a group of asians in our town who have like, a little gang of friends. They're way more into it all.

One of my best friends is actually half-indian but has absolutely no interest in her culture whatsoever. Her mother was sikh but converted and raised her daughter Christian. She doesn't care about India, she pronounces things like she doesn't know how to say them. And she doesn't.

It feels wrong to me but it is her choice and it's none of my business. I think you should stay in touch with it.

EDIT: I'd like it all a lot more if I liked Indian shows or Indian Stand Up - I did try youtube. Maybe I should try again...

most pakistani girls here are whitewashed enough yet still in touch with the culture. more than half date/marry non-pakistanis (I'd say 65%)
as for the guys, i'd say about less than half are, most aren't (whitewashed). this is from what i've seen and heard.

is your friend hot? for some reason, half south asians turn out really good looking.

but you're right, whatever makes her happy, so long as it isn't pushed on you if you don't want it. it's frustrating but that's life.

I don't like indian or pakistani tv or movies generally either.

i know, that's what bugs me about the "sweet innocent" thing.

 

I don’t think many of the girls here will marry a Caucasian guy. Maybe, I think they have much stronger ties with the Asians though.

And, sometimes I do like the movies, I like the funny ones but I’m not really a movie person and Indian soaps irritate me. They’re the only two real media forms I can see, songs are good though. When they’re not trying to be cool by rapping or wearing english style clothes.

And my friend is alright but she’s not particularly hot. No offence to her, she’s okay. She's not ugly but she is definitely not the prettiest of my friends. She doesn't seem asian. She's quite fair.

i think that has more to do with the fact that chinese women are completely subservient rather than lack of innocence
