    Hey,
My girlfriend just started using the birth control pill, and as expected she is experiencing mood swings and is becoming irritable. My question is, how long are these irregularities in hormones and emotions going to last? After using the pill for a certain period of time will her body get use to it and not react in this way? If so when?

Thanks in advance for the answers,
    Isaac

Well my roommate started taking the pill about a month ago and she was experiencing nausea, you get mood swings, but this is all because of the hormones that your body is not used to. Most likely her first period after she begins to take the pill is going to be really bad, she may be vomiting, having severe cramps but this is just the first month. Then the body gets used to it. She has to take it the exact same time everyday and be really good about it. She also has to be careful about taking antibiotics that can interfear with the pill and therefor it wont work and she can get pregnant.

usually these side effects only last for a few months. however, every woman is different. when i was taking a generic, the side effects were always there, i was ALWAYS moody, always irritable, and constantly had stomach cramping. now that i'm on the actual brand name pill, my side effects are gone. i had them the first couple months as expected but they subsided after that.

Yea give it a few months and if it doesn't stop then she needs to get on a different pill.
