End Times: Raptures, the Anti-Christ,Apocalypse, the "Left Behind" Literature

The notion that good Christians will be taken up to heaven, leaving the rest behind to suffer the tribulations has captured the imagination of Hollywood, as well as many Christians. So what do you think?

 

It's a notion that has made megamillions for televangelists and the authors of the "Left Behind" book series, and is surefire moneymaking material for mass-produced "B" Hollywood productions.

Most of the Christians I know believe that there will be an eventual second coming per the Bible, but consider that the persons who preach it as imminent and directly related to current events are not necessarily coming from a correct spiritual perspective or correct Biblical understanding.

Personally, I consider the second coming to be an event that happens on an individual basis, the moment when a person awakens spiritually and begins the process of acceptance of the reality of a higher power than themselves and a transcendental existence that lies beyond apparent reality.

I don't think people will be 'left behind to suffer'. But if you refuse to change, and refuse to humble yourself and pray to God at the moments of the end, then it really isn't the fault of God. People have free will and I imagine that MOST people would humble themselves and pray at this moment of chaos. Then at this moment God will heal their land as promised. When there is a large enough group projecting positive energy, then this will have a REAL effect on their environment at the time. The power of consciousness and spirit is a lot more powerful than most realize.

Do I think that some people will be 'left behind'? Yes I do. I believe that if you are a person that lied, cheated, murdered, and have done all of these horrible things without an ounce of care and make no effort in becoming a better person and feel absolutely no sorrow for any of it but rather, pride, then I can see how these people would only become enraged if they were to see the evidence of God to their faces. Imagine being a person like this and then realizing that God exists and that he is looking into your soul and asking you to repent, that would only anger these people more. At least that's how I see it - You can't force repentance.

But if you are a decent person, most people are decent, and you see chaos, and you hear the voice of God and see evidence of this, then you will feel sorry and you will humble yourself, and you will be protected. It's that simple.

 

I think I just figured this stuff out. I wasnt thinkin bout it or nothin but it just came to me. When I was bout 8 years old me and a friend wer walkin and we saw a Ship of Light. It was doin stuff only a Ship of Light could do. Bendin time and stuff. I didnt realize it at the time but from that moment on my lifr took a turn. A change of attitude. -I think that even if your in the Book of Life He still gotta give you his spirit. "Your new Heart. I think thats what He dose. I guess I was just happened to be lookin at the time. So was my friend. Anyhow. He gave me a Heart to pray with. Now He can find me. Thats whats up. Somethin like that anyhow. --When He comes back Im prayin He takes me and my wife and my loved ones. Hes gonna come rapture us and if we pray hard enoughf He just might relent. If your chozen thats cool. Hel just take ya. Youl be prayin anyhow tho. But just in case, you can pray and beg Him to take you when He comes. --I think He might be commin soon. I hope so. Its comforting to think of "Home". Forever. With God. His will be done. Whenever He comes, I wanna go! ------------Its a sad fact that some folks thatl be saved will not be taken when God comes the first time. Theyl be left behind. Enticed by satin. Some will know it and others wont even believe the reality of whats goin on round them. What? Angles? demons? Whats it all meen? Theyl be confused. Durring theyr time while theyr left here on earth after the rapture they have the opertunity to read the Bible or hear the Word somehow so that God might come into theyr hearts so they could pray to Him with a Perfict Heart. Then He'l get you when He comes back again. I think some folks'l know exactly whats goin on and just straight up chooze satan. Juswt as they do today theyl do tomaro. Thats ok, I bet we got lotsa room to kikk our feet up in Heavin! I hope mabey I get somthing to do round somkinda gardens or something. Just whatever Hes got for me. Im His. I pray He dont leave me behind. Not me my wife and our loved ones! I wanna get on them Ships of Light my Bruddas!

 

What was brought to my attention is that many may not go to God during these times but rather, the government. People have been conditioned to see the government as their savior. So to them, the only thing that can save them is the very system that is condemning their lives. At this time, it would appear that the government is doing their best to protect its citizens. And they would create a great illusion of security and prosperity. Even during these times, they will most likely turn to the government for help, rather than God -- and that's the problem.

That is the current worry that I have, but I still believe that God will reap what he has sown. It's just a matter of time and patience.

 

God's going to come back and with a vengeance!

All you people who like to sip on devil wine for dinner, or do the hanky panky after dark. Criminals who smoke marijuana or those rapper types that dirty dance in the club. All of your life is going to be summed up in one final moment, and that scale is tipping towards a thousand years of agonizing repentance.

On that day I'll be up in the clouds with my savior, enjoy the company of my Bible Club and eternally rejoicing God's pious judgement.

Smoking marijuana can be good and harmless entertainment, but it is my opinion that the way that it is used CAN cause some people suffering. Dancing in clubs isn't wrong, but the way we do things are. The intentions that we hold and how we use these intentions.

To me, a sin is anything that harms the human condition in some way. A sin is using anything with hate and not with love. A night with a woman, under the right mindset and conditions isn't a bad thing. But when people use each other for their own gratification, then that becomes a problem.

I was mostly talking about the people that cause a lot of hurt and harm to the world and do so without an ounce of sorrow for doing so.

 

Absolutly. Most folks live theyr lives the way cain sacrificed. Theyr's nothing wrong with vegetables as long as theyr done well. For something to be done well it has to be done with the fear of the Lord in your heart. Thats what makes your works good. Done with the fear of the Lord in your heart.-----Smokin Herbs REAL good. God REALLY likes Herb. He likes you to smoke it alot! But with Him in your hearts. Not with sin in your hearts. Go on and smoke up some REAL good Herbs up to the Lord! Worship Him while you smoke! Keep Him always on your mind and in your Heart. When you smoke, concentrate on the Lord. Thats what the TRUE purpose of Kaneh Bosom's for. Use Herb properly or elce its no good. Send up a great cloud to the Lord! Thats what Moses was doin most the time. With his sons and all.

Interesting. I did have a deeper sense of suffering and joy when I smoked and would look out at the world. For example, I was once high and saw a bug suffering and I had a deeper sense of its suffering. It wasn't just a mechanical thing to me anymore, but a living being in pain and I felt so bad for it. There is something about marijuana that makes you more sensitive to these things. It also has a way of enhancing your spatial thinking skills. You become much more imaginative.

It also has recuperative effects and is known to significantly reduce the risk of many forms of cancer. If we fell from grace from a higher dimension, then I would think that God would leave these chemicals behind to be used for our benefit. THC does lock into your neurons like a key to a lock, after all.

I'm all for the mary jane and drugs in general. Moreso than what you do is where your mind is at. A person can trip 100x and not gain anything from their experience. A person can smell a flower and reach enlightenment.

Back on topic: I enjoy Popular Apocalyptic literature, but only as a novelty.

I find the notion of a pre tribulation secret Rapture unBiblical. A passage that i know is used to describe the Rapture, from Matthew 24:26-31. It speaks of the return of christ like lightning stretching from the West to the East (but after the tribulation) then he will gather all of his people from the Earth. Combined with 1 Thess 4:16-18, Christ's final return will be the Rapture of his people.

Just because I love the guy so much, it is interesting to note that Jack Chick "hollywoodized" the Rapture in the early 1970's... long before Left Behind had a chance.
