Being 19 weeks pregnant, and a moderate marijuana user, I have been reading up on this subject a lot. I suffer from a lot of stomach problems, including IBS, and feel a lot better about taking a few hits off of a marijuana pipe than I do taking any of the over the counter or prescription remedies. A toke or two seems to greatly relieve my stomach pains and digestive problems. I certainly do not sit around smoking joints all day, but when my DH is packing a bowl, I always ask for a hit or two.

I do not drink or smoke cigarettes and the only other drug I've consumed in 19 weeks was two acetaminophin tablets (not at once) while I was fighting off a sinus and ear infection very early in my pregnancy.

For those of you interested in finding out more about so-called risks of using marajuana during pregnancy, I recommend visiting the following link:

Have either of you had this problem, i don't know if there's a name for it, but it feels like my hips are coming out of the socket? it is extremely painful and honestly sometimes I feel like i can't even walk. The doctor tried to prescribe me some sort of narcotic pain reliever but I refuse to take it. Do you think a little pot might help?

I have not experienced this (yet). How far along are you? I think a couple of tokes may be just what you need! I would at least try, you might not need to take the narcotic your doctor prescribed at all. Personally, I feel this would be a good thing!:p

I'm 29 weeks I don't think it happens to everyone though. I'm just lucky i guess lol i agree with you , taking the narcotic is not something I'm willing to do so I'm desperate for another answer, i'll give it some thought

The sensation you are describing is very familiar and totally normal. Progesterone makes your body produce 10x the amount of relaxin you normally produce.

Relaxin does much what it sounds like it does, it relaxes things. Your hips will naturally become looser leading up to birth. I used to have to tie up my hips (wrap a long sleeve shirt around my hips while on my back and tie it) to get out of bed. My pelvis felt as though it was in 4 separate parts.

Here is some more info on Relaxin and strategies to help http://health.discovery.com/centers/pregnancy/backpain.html
