I am calling on all of you to e-mail or SOMEHOW contact the PM of Canada so that we can avoid the extradition of Marc Emery, Prince of Pot. As I'm sure most of you understand, without Marc Emery there would be no chance of seeing the end of marijuana prohibition. Almost all of the profit he has made from selling marijuana seeds, he has put into funding the reform of marijuana laws. I just spent an hour sending my whole fucking life story to the PM so hopefully he PERSONALLY reads it. Now I'm not asking all of you to do the same thing as me, but at least just send an e-mail saying "Please do not extradite Marc Emery to the United States" or something. Hopefully if we get all of our friends to do the same and ask them to get THEIR friends to do the same, etc. then we can create enough of a movement to prevent Marc Emery from being sentenced to life in prison for giving millions of people the medication that they need. here is the PM's e-mail address : pm@pm.gc.ca So what are you waiting for? Prohibition isn't going to end itself! note : Marc Emery's extradition hearings are set to take place at Canada's Supreme Court on June 1-5th, 2009.
As much as I agree with this and that pot should not be illegal Marc Emery was fully aware of the laws and what he was getting into. As with anyone, if you are not willing to do the time do not do the crime. Tommy Chong has done more for marijuana law reform while he was in than out of jail. I would be willing to bet that if Marc Emery were to get extradited he would ge more press than Tommy Chong did. As a pot smoker I take my freedom in my hands everytime I buy, smoke or carry. If I were to grow, again it's my decision. Doing these things that I know are illegal, I have to know that I could get cought. It's one of the main reasons that I don't smoke with people who are under the age of 18. I am not going to take the responsibility of one "contributing to the delinquency of a minor" and two take the rap for anything someone else is carrying. Like I said, I personally think these law are wrong and I do rebel against them as best as I can without going to jail. I have other considerations than my own. If you really want to make a difference then educate everyone outside of the fourms on pot and break the cycle. Only this way can we further our cause to get the laws reformed. Our biggest hurtle is to fight against all of the propaganda that our government is throwing out their. The fact that pot is put in the same boat as cocaine or H or any other drugs for that matter is a joke. Our best efforts should be focused on breaking the sterotypes. No one will listen to a bunch of "stoners". Present an educated argument and they can't argue with you.
no offense, but Marc emery is a freakin joke when it comes to legalization, and i've experianced it all first hand sure, the guy wants to put the pot movement forward and he obviously is passionate about his clause, but imo he is WAYYY more serious about making money then any actual movement the guy associates himself with fucking -SKIDS- like dirtballs you wouldnt talk to if your life depended on it, his businesses are run very suspect and the people he hires are even worse imo if he was truely serious he would not associate himself with the beyond steteotypical "druggy" and would make contacts with people wearing armani suits and that actually have influence on government actions a prime example, me and a friend are down at his store in downtown Vancouver looking around, this straight up fucking bum comes in and asks the retarded stoner chick working there "hah hah.. hey so did marc drop off that scale for me or what?" chick is like nah i dont think so, buddys like "hah okkk ill just be up the street, flag me down if he comes by" he isnt serious about his endevours, he's just out there for the fame and money more then any actual commitment to the cause imo, you will never get anywhere with your protests and rights movements if you associate yourself with the very people programs like "DARE" and the war on drugs are directly targeting.
Startreken - I completely disagree. The marijuana laws are fucking ridiculous. Why the hell should we have to live with them? Because everyone is too lazy to do anything about it? and for Digitall, Marc Emery lives like he's on welfare. Almost ALL of his money is used as proceeds for reform in one way or another. The fact that none of you are going to do anything about the drug laws except sit around and complain about them scares me. AND THEN when you have a chance, everyone sits on their asses. I don't get it.
Twizz, You misunderstand me. I agree, the laws are a joke. It is time for a change but ignoring the fact that you can go to jail does not make the fact that it is illegal right now. I am not saying that you need to live with the laws but that you need to change them. Focus your efforts on positive ways to get them changed and not on people like Marc Emery who has dug his own grave. Marc Emery is not someone I want to be the front man for our own war to get pot legelized. We need someone who is a positive image. Personally, I hope that he does get away with it, but he should be prepared to suffer the consequences of his actions in our society as it currently stands. When you stand in front of a judge, he may also be a person who feels that the laws are not right but unless he gets the chance to change the law he still has to follow those rules. Think of it like a speeding ticket. Let's say a local govenment decided to change the speed limit to something unresonable like 10 mph. If you go 20 or 25 down a street and get a ticket and go before a judge he is not going to say that that speed limit is unresonable he is going to say that it is the posted limit and you need to obey. Like I say, I don't agree with the laws but we live in a society. Unless you can change the minds of the general population the laws will never change. However, you are up against some pretty big guns. The government has been blasting the airwaves with radio, TV as well as print adds for years telling everyone that drugs are bad and bad for you and that they cause all kinds of problems that people don't like. It's all about reducating the masses. IMO what better way then to arrest someone like Marc Emery. You ask why people don't stand up for their rights but we do that everyday but I am not going to stand up at my job and say that everyone should smoke pot. Or go walk up to a cop and light up a joint. Personally I would like to keep my job and not go to jail. The weed in prison is expensive and it sucks, from what I understand. I might even be willing to do what you ask and send a message to your PM but personally I think that he has already made up his mind on the issue. If he chooses to defend Marc then good for him if not he is doing what he thinks is right. Twiz, I challange you to come up with a solution to our problem. Don't let the system run over you if you can provide us with a better option I will support you 100%. Good Luck!
hahah are you kidding me? do you live in Vancouver? emery has Season tickets to the canucks at 5 grand a peice and lives downtown, where the smallest bachelor suite in the shittiest building goes for 200k ever heard of "dakine" ? his "headshop" that was selling weed by the pounds on the daily for profit before it got busted? sure it was the fucking kills but i highly HIGHLY doubt when your making $10 on .8 grams some of the money aint going into your pocket he really isnt as great as he is made out to be and even in Vancouver only the most dedicated druggys follow his cause closely.
He's much more popular around here... And no, I'm not saying to jump up at work and yell "SMOKE WEED". I'm just asking for e-mails to be sent to the PM. It doesn't take longer than 2 minutes and it's doing SOMETHING rather than just sitting around and saying "well, they've probably already made up their minds so what's the point".
