Us and them And in the end we're only ordinary men Me, and you God only knows it's not what we would choose to do Forward he cried from the rear and the front rank died And the General sat, and the lines on the map moved from side to said Black and blue And who knows which is which and who is who Up and down And in the end it's only round and round and round Haven't you heard it's a battle of words the poster bearer cried Listen son, said the man with the guy There's room for you inside Down and out It can't be helped but there's a lot of it about With, without And who'll deny it's what the fighting's all about Out of the way, its a busy day I've got things on my mind For want of the price of a tea and a slice The old man died. So wonderfully put by Pink Floyd.... In times like these, with war and elections that we don't like, leaders we like less, ideology, lies, and dogma fed to us by an unimpressive media, let's keep in mind we're all human. We fight about money and things, the ordinary men die while the leaders talk and argue. It's not real to them, even when the bodies come home. Forgetting the humanity of the man to our side is what causes this. We need to start making people realize that on both sides of this war are human beings, each with their goals, needs, and wants. We Americans maybe want peace and prosperity, or maybe just corporate profits. They on the other side want America out of their faces to stop the surge of western culture, or maybe they just want to kill Christians. But either way, the solution is going to come from the middle, we need to reach out, talk, and find a solution. War will not do it, unless we want to live under the constant threat of pissed off freedom fighters/terrorists (depending on your perspective). We need to sit down and talk about this, to reach some solutions, not just have a war of words and ideologies that characterizes most political meetings.
