Sheryl Crow - Home John Prime - (not sure of title but...) There's a Hole in Daddy's Arm Poe - That Day Maria Muldaur - Mad, Mad Me Also, "Smoke" by Ben Folds Five, "Exit Music" and "Talk Show Host" by Radiohead to name a few...
"Linger" and "Dreaming My Dreams" by the Cranberries are to beautifully written and performed songs. Never fail to put me on the verge of tears
Evenesence - My Immortal Reminds me of an old relationship and always gets me upset(esp after a drink) apart from the little guitar bit at the end NIN - Hurt is pretty sensitive as well
You gotta go there to come back - stereophonics ( title track from that album) rainbows and pots of gold - stereophonics The heart asks pleasure first - Michael Nyman - one of the most infinitely beautiful pieces of music EVER! peace and love xxxxx
"Mess" - Ben Folds Five "magic" - Ben Folds Five "Don't Let It Bring You Down" - Neil Young "Old Man" - Neil Young "The Needle & the Damage Done" - Neil Young "Candy Says" - The Velvet Underground "Jesus" - The Velvet Underground "Oh! One sad song is... "Queen Jane Approxiamtely" - Bob Dylan. I love this song, but I gotta stop mentioning it on here every other post.
some more... Tori Amos - Bells for her!! An absolute antidote for unwelcome joyous feelings. You'll be down as new in a matter of seconds (no exaggeration there...) all Shape of Despair, Esoteric, Skepticism, Thergothon, Funeralium, Torture Wheel (Fuuuuuuuneral Dooooooooooom). And Sunn O))), but not in a good way like the rest.
Epitaph by King Crimson from Court Of The Crimson King. Truly a melancholy masterpiece IMHO. Also Lalena from Deep Purple's self titled release. Not a well known one but DAMN it's beautiful.
I can't believe no one has mentioned Lennon's "Working Class Hero." That's probably the most depressing song I've ever heard. Agreed. I love that song.
Changes by Black Sabbath From Vol. 4 (I think) which is just Ozzy on vocal and (I could be wrong) Tony Iommi on piano and mellotron. Seconds by The Human League from Dare. The closing portion of The Gates of Delerium called Soon by Yes from Relayer. The mood of this one I find mournful yet it's also the post-war part of this songs storyline. Grim Travellers by Bruce Cockburn from Humans. Politically charged lyrics like 'If I Had A Rocket Launcher'
Ball and Chain-Janis Joplin Dear One- George Harrison Imagine-John Lennon In My Life- The Beatles The Man Who Sold The World-Nirvana You've Lost That Loving Feeling- The Righteous Brothers American Pie-Don McLean
