Well Obama's a politician, and not effectively any more honest or decent than Bush, and many of his advisers are the same lobbyists and king makers that have affected policy in the US for the past 80 years.

But beyond that, shifts in policy happen, and Obamas policies are different from Bush's. In my opinion for the better. Even if you think otherwise, I think recognising the difference is important rather than sucombing to morbid apathy.

    for sure.

from the reasons you have stated, i hardly think that recognizing a flaw in the political system could be considered morbid apathy by any means.

i don't like politics and i don't think i have anything more to say on the subject...anything of value at least.

I think with PR it's more of an issue with the ruling elite essentially putting whoever they bloody want into office for the sole purpose of creating a veil to distract and manipulate the masses. Some people think that blind followers are even worse than those who are apathetic.

I think the whole premise of 'ruling elite putting whoever they want into office' is essentially a distraction.

It's creating a premise of a shadow ruling class, rather than addressing legitimate concerns about how our country is governed. It's a false dichotomy, it's simple, and it doesn't move the debate forward at all.

Yeah, I sort of agree. Though I think there's some truth to the belief, the majority of the people who entertain it can't tell you who this class is, why exactly they are controlling us, and how they are evil. The Matrix was good, though [IMG]

What does it matter? He's just a spoke in the wheel. Just be happy he's a bit more palatable as a person, and run with it. He's also got more backbone, so I think he's got 0.000001% greater chances of disappointing the system in a crisis situation.

I guess the biggest thing for me isn't even tangible.

Whatever theories there are on Obama(NWO, Sleeper in the white house)

Seeing a black man(mulatto, arabic wtf ever) being announced as "The President of the United States of America" tells me that I can do anything.

I took a trip down south years ago with my family. As we came in to a local Denny's, a black man got out of his seat and opened the door for us. When we asked the waitress if he was an employee, she told us, "No, but down here they know their place. He would've been removed had he not opened that door".

And now before I've come anywhere near being aged and old, as I thought I may be, I turn on my television and this charming gentleman with dark skin sitting in what is supposed to be one of the most powerful seats in the entire world. To me that is the ultimate inspiration; to know that anybody really can be anything they want if they put their mind to it.

Well, actually what you're referring to regarding third world birth control is more like US taxpayers providing funding for the abortions of predominately black babies in Africa. So it's really about eugenics and has nothing to do with the rights of women. It has to do with getting rid of the "useless eaters," as Kissinger called them.

Tripling the size of the Americops is certainly interesting when you consider the fact that Obama and Rahm Emanuel have both called for mandatory service for Americans between the ages of 18 and 25. It will be interesting to see what becomes of that and how Americorps ties in. So much for freedom of choice.

The Equal Pay Act is interesting, considering that, on average, women working in Obama's Senate office were paid $6,000 below the average man working for Obama.

Lastly, I would just like to know where all this money will come from. Of course it's a rhetorical question because the money comes out of debt (in other words money they don't have).

Or it says you can do anything as long as you have no scruples and tow the line, always doing as you're told and not what your conscience tells you. I think they want the public to be all glowing and enamored over the fact that a black man was elected, as if it really means anything.

Rat, I'm having a hard time believing that you really feel there is no significance to this election.

The fact is that no matter how many "puppets" these shadow leaders have, you can't just make rednecks not riot and load up their guns. Period.

SOMEBODY put that dark skinned man in office, and even the craziest of the rednecks I know are ok with this. That's not something that you can just fake and force. If the powers that be are so powerful, they could've put a dark skinned man in to office 30 years ago.

They didn't because it would've been coast to coast riots in tons of major cities across the country.

    That didn't happen this time.

While the circumstances may not be changing so much, I'm extremely ecstatic that the people are changing and so is the mind set of this country.

Our generation is taking over, Rat. That's why Obama was able to be elected or "placed" in office. No matter how anybody feels it has happened, it HAS happened - and really staged or not, the acceptance of this man as leader of the free world changes everything.

It would be quicker to list the ways that Obama is the same.

Obama is respected by most of the rest of the world, Bush was hated.

Obama is the president of America, whereas Bush was the president of America
Obama's attempts to fool us into believing he was trustworthy fooled a lot more people
    Obama's wife is quite milfy
Obama's pet dog is called Rufus where as Bush's one was called "Tony"

Can't think of any more, oddly enough...

Politics in the US has become a joke and a con-game.Obama+Co. are different, how much better remains to be seen.A good start would be to kick out EVERY lobbyist and special interest group for the rich.--I don't see them doing that yet.--Actions speak louder than words.
