Hi, does anyone remember Pearls before swine? In the 'Song about a rose' the lyrics reads like follows: 'With the children of Fribourg and the good thief standing by'. Is there a certain occurrence associated with the cited sentence or is it just... lyrics? Regards Gyro
Hmmm I don't know about that example, but I LOVE Pearls Before Swine! Here is my favorite lyric: Bodies on bodies Like sacks upon shelves. People are using each other, To make love to themselves. I've always loved his lisp too. The atmosphere of their music is always haunting and a bit creepy to me, even when it doesn't try to be. "Images of April" was the first song I ever heard by them and it gave me a taste of what it might feel like to be insane and oblivious to it. Awesome.
Hi, heard them with 'Translucent Carriages' on an internet radio station a few months ago. A quick search at this on-line book and paraphernelia dealer dug out some more pearls. Among others 'Drop Out' is my favorite song at the moment. In general I like songs that are a little bit melancholic. But I like to listen to swing and jazz from the beginning of the last century, too. And BBHC and Jefferson Aeroplane and friends. Regards Gyro
Drop Out is a great song, his lisp is really prominent in it! The whole "Balaklava" album is my favorite though, really nice lo-fi acid folk. (or whatever you want to call it) Jefferson Airplane is also one of my favorites. Jorma is in my top ten favorite guitarists.
Good morning, jepp, they are great. But then they regroup and form Jefferson Starship. Not one of my favorite bands. It got worse when the eighties knocked on the door. I was a teen ager in the eighties. In restrospect it's amazing how we all had developed that bad taste in music, in fashion etc . Nowadays Grace Slick looks like a friendly old lady doing her stuff. And Jorma is playing in his own band. What do you think about bands from the sixties or seventies that are regrouping, maybe with new voices, and trying to be successful again? Regards Gyro
