I'm 15, and I >>WANT<< to drop out, get a GED, and grow my own herbs and such and sell them. That's all I want to do, forever. I've had my phases about careers, but I'm sure about this one, I've wanted to for quite a while. I've been told by EVERYONE to finish High School. I'm sick of doing word finds for grades, and learning about how to form sentences when I have better grammar than most of the people in my school.

    Here's my ideas.

--Grow my own herbs, trees, vegetables, and maybe even fruits. Definitely some watermelons.--Have a website for my business, and have instructions and information about the things I sell, and how to grow them. This will draw in ad revenue =]
--Live with my dad until I decide that I've met "that someone". He makes $50,000-65,000 a year, and is as, if not more frugal than I.
--I'm a pretty damn good musician, and I'll have my work on iTunes and MySpace.
--We have plenty of vending machines that on average bring in $20-30 profit a month. There are probably 25 of them that aren't in use, and 50+ that are.

How much money do you guys think I would be making a year?
    --Be VERY frugal.

I have no idea how much you'd make but I do know there are a lot of people growing stuff and I'm sure as times get harder more people will grow food at home.
    good luck

fisnish high school man, trust me, i want to be done with it just like you. if your not already, take applied or college level courses, as they are much easier, less work. but like you said, if you do have another change of mind about your careers, and have dropped out it will do you no good, plus your young man, finishing high school is the right choice. i recommend start growing now, so you can work out any kinks if you find out its want you want to do

Baby , education is SO IMPORTANT !!!!
And sellig weed isnt worth the risk of the law OR the low life thieves that could kill you for your weed or money.
Stay in School , graduate , then do something with your music , or maybe go onto get a degree in something and change the world.
Your SO young , and you got a long life in fornt of you.....make it a GREAT one !!

just stick with it, you could always change your mind and if not then i would say take some classes that will help you with a personal business or farming or something. trust me, i'm 18 and remember going through all kinds of future life phases around your age and i still am!

You can still do that after high school though, or even right now while you're in high school. No one likes school, just ride it out.

This is just one of the reasons why I don't like feminists, "we are strong and independent. " Marry someone who will make the money for you. Sounds GREAT.

So this is your plan, drop out of school at 15, ride off of your dad till you can find another man to ride off of while you do what you 'like'. This is the best plan I could ever imagine.

One thing about being on your own and becoming an adult is the realization that you HAVE to do things you don't like. This includes school. You are obviously not even close to becoming an adult. This is the most horrible plan I could ever think of. Grow up.

P.S. Don't older people tell you school is important and that you need to at least finish high school? Do you think that they say that because they are idiots? All I see actually happening is you trying what you are saying and getting kicked out of your house. Then you get pregnant from some dood so you think he will stay with you then he leaves you and you go on welfare thereby making the rest of us that DO have responsibility work for your income...

Sounds like you have some awesome dreams. I say go for them.

First I think you should try to get through high school. Trust me, almost everyone hates high school. And I know it can really suck when you aren't being challenged and the people are a drag. But if you ride this out, you'll have an advantage when you go on to pursue your dreams. Not to mention if you decide to go on to college, even if for a couple of classes, you'd be better equipped to run a successful business. And when you graduate from high school it will be probably the happiest day of your life so far.. I still remember walking off the stage feeling proud that I lasted through what I thought was hell at the time.

With that said, I don't think everyone needs college or high school to be happy and successful. It depends on how they define their own happiness and success in life. And because that definition may change for you over the course of your life, it might be best to take the opportunity for education while it's this accessible.

Also, side note.. don't wait around for some guy to come around and save you. When the time comes to move out and be on your own, be a strong woman. You don't need anyone to take care of you.

Best wishes to you in finding your path. :peace:

I doubt everyone here is a hippie, but I'm guessing everyone here is hip and from young to old, everyone is pretty much in agreement. I thought Buddha Fish said it well - even gave me flashbacks:

Quote: "dude, everyone is sick of school. who the fuck likes high school? nobody"

It's been 47 years since I was in that place and I've never, ever wanted to take any kind of high school nostalgia trip. Maybe some things don't change. I quit and then I had to go back and it was a big hassle and I should have just stayed - it's not that hard, you know? Aren't there all sorts of alternatives to mainstream HS?

Give it another year, and see how young you can sign up for community college courses.
If you really cannot take the physical high school, look into online to get the diploma.
I read you post as you want to grow culinary and therapeutic herbs.
Get an herbalist certificate and at least an associates in business, so you can make the bucks.
Look into something else that will supplement the not always so profitable world of alternative healing.

And get the find someone to support me thoughts out of your head.
