Humane USA notes that a large percentage of represenatives who favor animal protection measures were elected. In addition, two strongly anti-animal candidates were defeated, including one who was an unapologic supporter of cockfighting. Greyhounds were the winners in Florida, where voters rejected an attempt by dog tracks to boost their waning industry. Sadly, bears lost out in Maine and Alaska, where propositions to ban the practice of bear baiting for hunting purposes failed.
