How do you figure that? The way I see it, if we keep these idiots busy with massive civil disobedience and other direct action tactics here at home, they won't have the time or resources to go fucking around abroad as much. The Vietnam war was only ended when it threatened to rip the country apart.

When the populace is "united" behind their leadership, the results are rarely good for the rest of the world, because the leadership uses the unity to force through wars and other measures that they could never take if there was an active, outraged opposition.

There are bigger things going on than the war in Iraq. Long after the last troop is out of Iraq, and this Bush character is forgotten, the effects of the events inevitable in the next ten years will be felt. Americans aren’t going to be the only ones who feel the effects, every citizen on the earth will feel the effects.

If we are prepared to make concessions to Bush he will make concessions to us. The way to keep Bush in line is not through protest but through support. Protest guarantees that Bush will continue on with his Westphalian ideals that tell him he should lead the globe. That guarantee will be challenged only ‘America’ speaks. The pressure for concession won’t just be from the democrats. Every European power wants a pluralistic ideal at the heart of global governance when it emerges. They do hold some power.

This is an event that can only turn out well if everyone comes to the table with their heads on straight and in consideration of ‘all’ the citizens of their country. You want Bush to make concessions for you, you have to make concessions for him. That is the essence of the politics. The manipulation of the social contract as a means to an end.

When Kerry said he was going to give America a different face and change their standing with regard to the powers, he was talking about the inevitable emergence of a global system of governance. It is going to happen. Every consideration and argument must be heard.

    I must add ... IMHO!

This is very, very wrong. George Bush and his cronies will hardly be kept in line by the pandering of Canadians, or any nation for that matter. I don't know how anyone who has watched the Bush administration for the last four years can make such an assertion. Bush is not a man of compromise or consession; he's a poor stateman, incredably crude and uncouth, and I think four more years of his rule will only be detrimental.

"With us or against us" leaves no room for concession and certainly offers none in return. It's an ideology which demands nothing less than subservience

this is a nice thought, but does not seem to be anywhere close to reality. bush is controlled by an organism that does not make concessions.

as far as a global system of governance...it is after all prophesied...one money (the euro) one rule. i'm sure many are hard at work trying to swirl that one into existance.
