i posted this originally in the 'what if...' thread. but i know it would be unread as people rarely read out an entire thread that demands only personal input/reflection. all this 'what ifs' and 'if nots' lead me to believe that some people might believe in destiny. this might sound stupid but after watching slumdog millionaire i have a better understanding of what destiny means...and it isn't shrewed in magic to me after all. the main character has a life, the details unimportant. he experiences a lot. despite overwhelming odds, on an unimportant game show, he is asked questions that he already knew the answers to through his personal run at life. questions that must have been out of reach for the common person living in india, especially living in the slums. but he manages to answer everyone correct, as all the questions asked could be answered by some manifestation personal only to him. he went on to win 20,000 million rupees. the extreme consequence of the coincidence leads me to believe that for a minuscule number of us, destiny can grip anyone. but rarely. to me destiny equates to beating the odds in one moment where the outcome is significantly life altering. even if you had no knowledge of how you did it. wow what a rant. and i can't believe this lack luster film won such praise. the wrestler should have won the oscar imo what is destiny to you , if you believe in it?
hahaha, sorry. i didn't spoil it though. the movies strength is it's main character and what he experiences. but yea, lol. watch the wrestler instead. from reading your post in the 'what if...' thread, i will bet you'll enjoy it more.
I thought sthg can only be destiny if its seemingly random, but with an underlying mind of its own, or sthg like that...?dunno LOL
Destiny is what must be. Since all things cannot be any other way but in retrospect or conjecture (and there is really no past or future), destiny is all there is. Amor fati!
Buddha..? BTW if Buddha was so clever and so "life skills orientated", why was he sooooooooooo fucking fat. ( apologies in advance to fat people, particularly *Buddhist* fat people)
I believe that destiny and its best friend, fate, work alongside you day-in and day-out and they have the power to change what may have originally been your fate or destiny according to how you live that day and what occurs in your life... If that makes sense!!! I know what I mean anyway!!
“What is your practice? What is Buddha?” somone asked [Zen master Ummon]. He answered … “Something to wipe yourself with in the rest room.” That is what he said. And since then many Zen masters are thinking about it, practicing with the koan: What is toilet paper?
Family are already lampshades. I'm gonna drug Buddha up and make him walk behind me.So everywhere I go, 1000 coolies are gonna bow down to me. And you're gonna be kept alive. So I can reinact that scene from Pulp Fiction.
