I know they're like a weed, usually grow pretty easy. Erowids got lots of information, http://www.erowid.org/plants/morning_glory/morning_glory.shtml

My reason for growing is to hopefully do an extraction to get LSA.
What do you plan to do?

I've eaten them multiple times, thrown up just about every time. That's why I wanna try the extraction.

yeh i want the extraction too and i cant get ones that arent coated with pesticide so the ones i grow will be clean.

    Best grow it anyways.

It shows your respect for the plant and you willingness to care for her.

Care for her and she'll care for you.

    Now, may we discuss extractions?

I know little, only read what's on erowid

oh yeah well i think honestly im gonna get anywhere from 1000 to 6000 seeds so i have alot of extraction methods i want to try, ill start with the cold water extraction, im not entirely keen on using chemicals to do an extraction. yeh erowid is a great resource, i dont know much about the whole chemistry thing anyways. of course i think i could easily get some ever clear and naptha or petroleum ether but again i dont wanna put any poisons into my body.

I tryied extracting with the cold water method and it turned into a black sticky mass
it tasted horible and frankly I was scared to ingest that crud. So I'm going to try the butane method and hopefully get something that won't mold.

Yeah i probably wouldn't eat it either, im not even sure how you got this result. Ive done the cold water extraction on a smaller scale with only 70 MGs. I made sure the powder wasnt to fine then i put the powder into an empty teabag so i could just throw the mush away.

I'm specifically going for the chemical extraction. I would like to have a substance as close to LSA as possible. With a quality extraction there shouldn't be any left over residues from the chemicals. I've done the cold water extraction with no results, this is why I plan to go all the way.

Regarding to the growth, they grow real easy.
My dad planted some, and 2 years later, we have huge long vines, some stretching all the way up our house. I think I counted last year and it was something like 100 flowers each morning.
    If that helps :D

yeah, you can get a lot more than 15 flowers per vine. i grew three plants last year and have two more going right now. make sure you have something they can climb up on though. and you dont really need to give them too much plant food, it makes them have less flowers. when its still in vegetative growth it wont hurt though. but when it starts to flower just give it regular water.

if you put sticks in the ground they'll grow up them. otherwise they wont get enought light sometimes

also, dont put them near other flowers. they grow like vines an will strangle them.

Well with the amount of seeds i'm going to be coming out with I think i'll go for the cold water method since you claim it has worked. I only tried it once and perhaps used too few seeds, but with a large amount I should be alright to use some to try. I've got over 80 seedlings that have just germinated and I plan to grown them all around my house.

Can we move the thread in the direction of Cold Water Extraction methods, this seems much more natural. If it works as well as people say, I am certainly glad to try.

oh and with over 80 plants I should have enough seeds, :D lol

I probably won't harvest all of them(YEAH RIGHT!) but I just love the looks of Morning Glories, they're beautiful, and I can't wait to have them crawling all over my yard.

okay alright then well i heres my cold water method:

1:Take 360-460 seeds and grind them to a coarse powder make sure the poder feels kind of like beach sand

2: use distilled water or the cleanest water you can get as clorine and impurities can kill lsa

3: stick the water in your freezer until a thin surface layer of ice forms this is when it will be cold enough

4: fasion yourself some teabags with the seed powder, now stir the teabags in the cold water for as long as you feel is necesarry now leave the teabag in the water and stick it in your fridge for about 20 - 40 minutes

5: discard the teabag and add any flavoring you want ( lemon, kool aid although ive never tried kool aid etc. )

    6: drink up and enjoy

    hope this helps

little to no nausea if you do it right. if the water gets too cloudy and turns a brownish tinge it means some of the finer grains or seed powder got through in which case you will experience some nausea but if you use a coffee filter or some fabric you can strain out most of the seed powder that got through. its the seed husk and insides that cause nausea and vomitting and etc. water is a very polar solvent and it can disolve LSA relatively quickly but it wont dissolve the none polar compounds in the seed that cause nausea. this basically means the LSA will bond to the water and the bad stuff wont.
