just track your food at some place like sparkpeople, fitday or what have you, and show her the protein amounts. too much protein is also troublesome.

my sis is a vegetarian and both my parents are medical so they she goes through the same thing you do. i think soy and milk are a good source of protein. all kinds of nuts too.

I'd definitely second tracking your protein. I did the same for my mom when she was afraid I was protein-deficient (and I wasn't really sure one way or the other) and I found out I was getting PLENTY with my regular diet, so long as I was careful. It made my mom feel better - AND it made ME feel better to know I was actually "doing things right!"

Milk (if you drink it), tofu, beans, lentils, whole wheat foods. The average meat eating American gets more than enough protien in their diet. So if you just keep track of what you eat, you'll realize that you are getting the right amount. :D

Why not just eat 100% organic eggs? They let the hens run around and do whatever they want with their lives, feed them excellent organic food and you're not killing something because it was never alive in the first place. 2 or 3 eggs a day and your b12 problem is solved, as well as numerous other health benefits like other nutrients and high-quality protein.

^^This. I usually have fried egg, baked beans and toast for breakfast. Beans and egg have quite a lot of protein as far as I know. On top of that I eat quite a lot of nuts as little snacks (Brazil Nuts being my favorite) which are also rich in protein. However, as I am trying to put on a bit of muscle, I have been looking for protein supplements, but all in all I think the whole veggies not getting enough protein thing is a bit of a myth.

Guys, nuts arent the answer for protein. You have to eat many ozs just to get the protein from a little meat, but nuts contain huge amounts of omega 6 fatty acids that will amplify the inflammation from your already high carb diets. Maybe an oz of raw, soaked nuts in a day at the most, but that only provides 5-8 grams.

B vitamins are common deficiencies. Just look for foods fortified with it. For Omega-3 (common in fish) eat cereal with flax seeds. Most meat eaters actually take in too much protein, it is almost never a concern even with a vegan diet.
