well, its more like a sweeping pull, kinda like how they swipe. man are they strong.. he is declawed poor thing.. was pretty cool..
todays the first day i spent any time at the sanctuary since dilli has been working there. she was the only one working today so she gave me my own private mini tour.. got to scratch all the other bears noses.. they are all not as tame as the one i shook hands with. gotta be careful they dont stick nothing but there noses through the bars..lol
dude that's cool as fuck man. what sanctuary? i spent the summer of 07 up in michigan's upper peninsula where the black bear population is 16,000 plus...and i didn't see one damn bear. conversely, i went to gatlinburg tennessee, a huge tourism trap, and saw 5...in captivity of course.
its the one down the road. www.2wild2tame.com heres a thread with a buncha pics and some explanation about the place and the animals.. Some of the sanctuary critters we see at least one bear a year on average here in the wild. although there are only about 2200 in the state.
today i helped dilli wrestle,,err feed the baby bears.. LOL,little fuckin hellions.. this was her first time feeding them, normally the directors wife does it but she is out of town.. was quite comical.. i think i got some great photos, will post them in the critter thread sometime in the next couple days..
These friends of my dad used to work for a zoo and they had two baby brown bear cubs at their home for a week. I got to go over there when I was younger and play with them and roll around in the grass with them. That's something I'll never forget. One of them sat in my lap for most of the time playing with my hand.
these lil bastards only weigh about ten pounds. a little small yet for rolling around with. she says they aint bad once they are fed but they sure as hell were holy terrors feeding them.. lol
umm no.. bears as in big black four legged mammals. the one i shook hands with, and a pic of the babies from a few weeks ago..
They are cute, but mean, spooky and hungry this time of year around here. Ive seen in person three cars in the past year where a bear wanted a small snack, most can open a unlocked door and some end up with the door shutting behind them and the its really ugly. I dont get it though, all these people had dogs, Ive cats and have left trail mix and even some baked salmon in the back seat..its an ins claim waiting to happen, not....all I do is clean up old trail mix and the car smells of fish but no bear...
thats sweet as hell. lucky bastard. if i ever have enough money, i'm gonna get me an exotic pet or two.
