My daughter turns 2 this month and she's already ready to potty train. She tries to follow anyone and everyone into the bathroom. She wants to be changed immediately after she wets her diaper. She uses her toilet every now and then, when she decides she wants to.

Her dad, my ex, has her for the next week and he was going to attempt to potty train her, but he chickened out. He's just as confused as I am about this whole stage. A friend of ours suggested just sticking her in panties, letting her wet herself at night, because she'll learn very quickly that she doesn't want to be wet and will want to use her toilet more often, but that seems almost cruel to me?

Those of you who have kids, particularly little girls, past this stage, how did you do it? There are so many books on the subject, I don't even know where to start so I thought personal experiences might make more sense to me.

I might not be the best to answer this. We just let Moire take the reigns. She pee-pees in the potty 80% of the time during the day. At night she is still in diapers. She's pooped in the potty once. She's three in two weeks.

We tried just sticking her in panties, but she just didn't care if she wet through them. She just wanted out of them quickly. She didn't quite make that connection.

We talk about the potty, read books about the potty, watch shows about the potty, sing songs about the potty. We are potty-centric here. Some days, she does better than others. Typically, if she doesn't want to potty, she's tired or getting ill.

Basically, our motto has been "Relax, follow her lead. She won't graduate in diapers." If she's three and a half before she's done training, well, she's done it just as she needed to do it. :)

My daughter loves your avatar BTW. She loves W&G with a passion as bright as a thousand suns. LOL

Yeah, I know I mean that's the big thing they always say, they'll do it when they want to do it. I'll probably get a bunch of those books for her for her birthday. She loves her books. Right now she's at this phase where she'll use it when I use it, and that's it. It's a start.

And TY, when I found it in the list of avatars I squeeled. I was raised on so much British TV and cartoons that it was a blast from the past to see it.

Alexis LOVES the potty. I award her for being a 'big girl' and going to the potty. She sleeps in diapers because I still co-sleep and I don't want to be covered in pee, and it's a big waste of water and detergent to wash pee covered sheets every day. :D

At first, I was frustrated because she wasn't potty training (She's 2 1/2) Then, I took a step back and realised that if I push her, that'll make her not want to do it that much more. She's still a baby (to me).

Alexis decided 2 days ago that she only wanted panties, and she knows when to go to the potty! She's amazing. She wears diapers all day and doesn't fill a diaper through the night.

Your daughter will get there. Every baby is different. If you're in a hurry, try rewards or something.
