Why cant they just bloody decide on a general etiquette and stick to it!? Whenever I give my last, they give me an odd look as if there was no need to be so formal...when I give my first they ask for my last instead and frown, and tell me what an odd first name I have whilst they write my last
If I give both its the worst of all, because I have to repeat, spell them out, do it slowly, and in the end they only write the one

Today I gave my first to a hairdresser, and she said "what an odd surname! Maxi? REALLY?"

Now I thought this depended on the situation...but is going to the hairdressers really that formal? I was actually about to go on and give my surname aswell before she interrupted:confused:

    Thats all

And on a totally unrelated note Ive just had an old school bully add me on facebook and acting like we were best of mates and yacking at me constantly about her toddler:rolleyes: I mean good on her for turning into a decent human being, but maybe less of the falseness and stuff, or an apology about making a 14 year old me cry...

Im in a complaining mood today
    Thats it now, really

I am used to people not knowing how to spell my simple name...when i start my last name I now say g as in george e as in elephant etc etc...there is a restaraunt here in canada called ''licks'' a hamburger place...its tasty but the staff sings while they cook and dress the burgs....being overly friendly ...they ask for your name and write it on your order so the singing 17 year old kid at the other end[manager!]can screan out your name when its your turn...I always say my name is ''B'' just to hear ''how is that spelled'' to which i reply...''its spelled 'B'...''..I love messin with trainees.....

perhaps you could recommend the hairdresser reads Naming And Necessity, it's a book I should get 'round to reading myself as well. Bet lithium's already read it

I have a very simple last name... But not a common one.

But dispite it's simplicity, everyone spells it wrong!

Even when I spell it out for people!

ALL MY MAIL HAS DIFFERENT NAMES ON THEM!

AND IT'S ONLY FIVE LETTERS LONG FOR YOUR GODS SAKE!!!

    whew... feel better now.
