facebook has killed the hipforums?

Where did everybody go? Has the massively successful site killed the buzz of the hipforum?

 

I don't think that's it, because UKhippy is still very active. Actually I've spotted at least one Hip Forums renegade over there ...

 

Every Forum On The Intertubes Have Their Quiet Times, And

Things Always Seem To Go In Cycles Round Here.

I was going to hint at this, but you've said it outright so I won't bother being vague. Sad that once-huge forums like this turn into ghost towns, but it happens.

I admit I've not been posting as much as I used to, but that's due to general busyness rather than any other sites taking up my time. These things go in cycles though, and when more people post and reply and get lots of active threads going, it draws more members in. I remember when this site was completely dead a couple of years ago, all it took was a concerted effort by a few of us to really start pulling in lots of new people and making the place thrive again. I'm certain it can be done again. All it needs is a little push in the right direction....

Another problem I think we have is too many subforums. Quite a few were added when the Group feature was developed on the old forums, but are redundant now. I might ask Skip to clean them up so we can concentrate on making a smaller number of forums really active....

 

Yes, UK Calendar, Spotlight, Polls, Photo Gallery, Group Messages ... I never understood what any of them were actually for that wasn't already covered in the other forums

 

I'd post more, but I'm only able to at work. And I only work weekends... on nights.
