I doubt there are many Tory hippies, I'm not one but a few months ago I was seriously thinking of voting Conservative just for the sake of pole-axing the ID cards scheme. Aside from that, this government has been in power for over a decade and the old adage "absolute power corrupts absolutely" seems to be ringing true, in particular they seem hell bent on destroying our freedom to go about our daily business unbothered and unobserved. Thirdly, I feel it is unhealthy for any given party to rule for too long for the sake of democracy in general. So, would you consider voting pragmatically or against principle (assuming you're not a Tory) and actually vote for The Enemy?
I've never, ever voted Con in 38 years of voting. But this lot is so bad, they have to go - whatever it takes.
I shouldn't think so but I doubt I could ever vote Labour either after the Blair / New Labour war years...
I'm not going to vote Labour, but I would never vote Tory. I expect I'll be voting Greens this time around....
Yup.. Lib Dems got in in my ward last time, not great but not bad either. Would ya believe there's fucking huge UKIP posters? In Cambridge, just about the most multicultural city outside London..
Cambridge might be the most multicultural city in East Anglia, but that's not saying much. Places like Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow are considerably more mixed....
If I ever voted Tory, my grandad would claw his way out of his grave, hunt me down and beat the shit out of me. And my grandad was cremated, so that tells you how set my family are against the Tories.
I tend to disagree with most conservative policies so on that basis i'm unlikely to ever vote for them. having said that, i think its important to consider each party at a general election rather than voting on a whim...
I was going to add that caveat, but felt it so unlikely any Conservative manifesto would ever align with my politics that I didn't need to say it....
Personally I'm a whim voter, I find it has much the same effect and has the added benefit of keeping everyone on their toesiggy:
