Things I wish I had known/wish I hadn't done before I got locks

1: I wish I had made my sections a bit smaller and rounder.
2: I wish I had watched what my sis was doing once she got to the end of backcombing (at the front of my head) because she gave too many huge loops and zig zags.
3: I wish I had just backcombed the roots, the rest was a waste of time.

 

i dont think this thread applies as much to those who have chosen the neglect method...more specifically me

i've been askin questions like nobodies business since i decided that i wanted dreads...and now that i've started goin neglect im only askin more!

course...im kinda anal with stuff im interested in...i wanna know everything!

the only thing i wish i knew right now is when i'll have actual dreads...lol...the waiting is gonna be unbearable!

I wish I'd used a oven mit instead of just a tea towel to take out my cake. ouch.
I wish I'd started my dreads before I fucked them over with bleach, my hair was so long but the bleach fucked it bad and I had to cut like 6inches off.

 

I wish I had been able to keep my first set of dreads, they were prettier
I wish I had more/less thin hair
I wish I hadnt realized the person who started my dreads wasnt sectioning
I wish the color would stay in my dreads longer
I wish I wasnt sick

 

I wish the person that did mine had the slightest idea what they were doing..

 

I don't have dreads... yet, I'm just wanting on my hair to get longer, but I can tell this is gonna be a good, interesting, and helpful thread! Very good idea.

 

I dont think id have chosen to have such large sections if id known at the time how fat my dreads would be, but i wouldn't change them for the world. So im kind of glad i didn't have the gift of foresight.

i wish i didnt cut my hair then decide to get dreads otherwise i wouldve backcombed instead of crocheting

Same domikatetrix.... i cut my hair super short and then after i was like, damnnnn, dreads are sweet! i want them!.... Why did i cut my hair is only like 3.5 inches now

 

loops and zig zags aren't caused by the way u backcomb.
im pretty sure its the hair that pops out to the side didnt knot as fast as the hair around it.
like how mountains are made, they push on each other until one side pops up.


i would want fatter and less dreads.

i wish my dreads were made really thick. like so thick that i have like twenty dreads all around my head.

 

looops and zig zags are normal, they eventually go away.

 

I like how my dreads turned out. Didn't really do anything to get them so I guess there's nothing I would have been able to change

I wish the girl who did mine wasn't so impatient - correction, I wish someone I trusted and knew to be patient had started them.
I wish the sectioning had been better, 1 inch by 1 inch is seriously too big for my thin hair, I have fat dreadlings now, love them, but that's not what I was going for.
I wish I had done them sooner, 3 years ago when my friend and I wanted to do them together. Now her dreads are amazing and mine are babies.
