It's been six months since starting my dreads and the past few weeks I am really missing my long hair! I have been having more headaches too. Do any of you get headaches from your dreads? I still love dreads but I am feeling like they are not meant for me. I think I might cut them! Does not help that my husband hates them. He likes dreads but just not on me. :( Here are some pics.
    This was the other day.

they look so pretty mama, and very mature for their age! it would be a shame if you cut. and as for the headaches...ive only heard of that happening to people with much longer dreads (because of the weight), so i dont know whats going on there..

they're gorgeous! I cant believe how much they've rounded for 6 months! Awesome! maybe your headaches are from you not being happy with em...cuz as spooky said headaches dont usually occur untill they're super long and heavy. If your unhappy then cut them! If you think this is just a phase then just wait it out! Do you think you could brush em out to get your length back? Or are they pretty tight? eeek. I dunno sweety...but I do know that you should just do whatevers gonna make you happy.

They are pretty darn tight! I know that I wont get the length back so it would be so short. I tend to get headaches that turn to migraines. That was one of the cons for me about going down the dread path. I can't even wear a damn bandanna for very long. It runs in the family.
Mandy- It could be a phase. You are right I need to be happy!! I told myself that I would give it a year and see if it works or not. So maybe I should stick to it.
    Thanks gals. :)

They look great and I really think you should keep them. May I make a suggestion? I think you should put a lot of unique beads/wraps in there. I think you'll start to love them a lot more after that - certainly was the turning point for me :)

And I'm sorry bout the headaches, don't know what to make of that...

If my opinion counts... I think your dreads are really beautiful. If the dreads are the cause of your headaches, then I would not hesitate to suggest getting rid of them... but make sure of that first.

If you want them, keep them... if you need a change... then do that. Just make sure you keep "you" happy. =)

    Btw, I love your button!

yeahh,, the answers always ganna be 'whatever makes you happy' i suppose. i think they look really good! i like em lots and much, and you might regret it if you cut so soon, and be left thinking 'what if..'

i remember lux saying her bloke hated hers, but he slowly came round to the idea.. maybe it will for your bloke?

they are beautiful dreads- i agree that you should make sure that they are what's causing the dreads before you decide to cut-

gorgeous dreads and I think they suit you very well. you have a very eathymama face and the dreads frame it well <3
I agree w mandy, it could be a phase. ohh and I also agree with zilla; spend some time on your hair. like choose pretty colours for a wraps, I think oranges/browns and goldens would suit your skin. even though we don't brush our hair dreads are still so feminine. moisturising them and putting wraps in mine makes me :)

    I like them on you.

But If you do get rid of them, I'd comb them out.

You loose a bit of hair, but after a few months it will be back to normal :)

I think putting in beads might help, it is changing it up a bit and and making them even more your own. I really don't think you should cut your dreads, you look so good with them! and your headaches could be from something as simple as your eyes need to be checked, so i wouldnt blame the dreads quite yet.

Aww thanks you guys! I have a little wooden button and a couple toe rings in but I think you are all right about adding some color. Maybe having Nick do the wraps will bring him around a bit. :) My son looooves them. He said to me today mama don't cut them then you wont be you. he is so sweet! well these six months flew by I think I will wait another six. Thank you all again. :)

Here's a "should I really go through with it?" test that I came up with one day. If you feel strongly about one thing, i.e. cutting and at the same time feel strongly against cutting. Flip a coin saying you are going to go through 110% with the outcome. If it lands tails for instance and you're unhappy. Then don't bother going through with it, and stick to the alternative idea.

That said, very beautiful dreads. Don't cut :)

    EDIT:
    :cheers2:
:toetap05: How about another 2 years?

I've been wanting to comb out lately. I think just long straight hair would suit me. I always end up keeping my dreads though

My neck was dead after the last show I went to because I never realize how heavy my hair is till after i'm done headbanging
