I've always wanted to have my hair dreaded. I used to have really long thick hair that probably would have been great but cut it all off into a short pixie style (you can view a photo of how short it is in my gallery) Should I wait and grow my hair out then dread it? I know absolutely nothing about dreadlocks or if you can manage it with short hair and fake dreads or not...
I would say just stop brushing and switch to residue free shampoos - go the natural route and just let it take it's own course and decide what it wants to do.
:iagree: it doesnt *have* to be any certain length...once you start neglecting of course you dont wanna cut it, and it may not actually dread while it's that short, but neglect takes time anyways, and if you start letting knots form now while the hair is short, then the dreads should only happen that much quicker once it reaches a good length...right? i can't really see pics on the comp im on, but im guessing that your hair is probably too short to do anything *but* neglect at this point...if you wanna do backcombing or twist and rip or anything like that, you're probably gonna need some more length...at least 6 inches or so? dont quote me on anything i said though...im no expert
actualy at 4 inches u can backcomb 5 twist n rip (i think) and neglect?/natural in most hair will begin to dread on its own around 6 but if u bacvkcomb or whatever at 4 inches what do u got but the pointuing straight out in every direction look that looks so silly with super short hair u can encourage it to start a few ways shiorter then normal beads twist up sections force on beads that fit so tioght they wont fall off or wool rubbing adfrican hair will dread at inder 1/4 inch naturakly or by tewisting
You should wait till you get longer hair. Otherwise you will just be disapointed with your short dreads that will take forever to grow
