hello people!! i was thinking about making a summer dress, but since im not sitting much behind a sewing machine i figured out it would be helpfull if i had some patterns so i could figure something out. do people here now some nice websites or have some nice patterns? thanks
For patterns, I would go to a fabric store or good ole' Walmart (sounds crazy but they have tons of patterns--I would go else where for fabric though).
This website is neat for FREE PATTERNS . I have gotten a lot of neat ideas. I haven't printed a pattern yet but if you have the capabilities you can. http://www.burdastyle.com/member/login
i made an apron style dress my fitting peices against my own measurements, then sewing them together. i kept adjusting as i went until i ended up with a long skirt, slit part way up each side with an apron top, with a strap around my neck and elastic across my back. it worked well for my needs and everything that needs to be covered in public is. used white fabric (from the discount bin) and tie dyed it afterwards.
Gertie has a good idea. Also, you might try deconstructing an old worn out one and using it as your pattern. My mom has done this for peasant blouses for years. (she hates off the rack.)
