Robot voices in pop music

What's the deal with the pop singers who use that cliche robot voice in their music? I hear it in music by people like Kanye West and others. Can't these guys think of anything original? It sounds friggin' lame as hell.

I really like it for some reason. I'm tone deaf I guess.

 

i've been lucky enough to pretty much avoid all music by kanye and the like for several years now. so i don't even know about this robot voice.

Eh, auto tuning is amusing in some songs not a big fan but I wouldn't call the music fad police either.
