I typically wear a bandanna when I leave the house. My hair hangs loosely out the back and it looks more presentable while things get underway with my hair, but I really want a band or something, something that looks pretty "natural/rustic" too and masculine. Anybody ever seen something like this? I'm thinking of trying to make my own pattern/design for a small hemp/macrame band - just something that loosely bunches my hair together and keeps it back and looks pretty good.

shit, and i thought my idea was original.
for real though, maybe some natural looking materials like linen, hemp, leather, suede (or imitation) something with texture but one solid color.

I know how to knit and crochet. I made my tam. Maybe I can knit one out of natural hemp and it'll give it a more rustic/summer look instead of the winter-esque yarn look.

Something like this would be perfect:

Nobody better be trying to insult Douglas Yahntzee Funny.

As for a dread band, I've used the sleeve of a t-shirt, or I cut some strips of fabric out of an old shirt I don't wear and sew a nice band.

I can never wear headbands for long, stopped using them a few weeks into my dread journey, They were annoying the dreads at the back of my head (making them all bent and shit). Felt really crap...anyway. Why don't you wear a tam ?_?

That looks really simple, too. You could knit that in just a few minutes :)

    I guess I just don't understand what isn't rustic about a bandana...

the only thing with hemp is that it doesn't stretch so you'd have to tie it at the back.
