You are missing an important program that is needed to do whatever it is you need to do? I don't know, post this in the computer forum, I think that still exists.
I am happy you are trying to do something about your Red x Problem But I can't help you yet. Are you on a PC or a Mac? Internet Explorer?
Id say you firewall or AntiV is blocking the applet. Then I'd go on to explain exactly what is happening, but i can't be bothered.
I'm on a PC. It is second hand but fairly new. I have not got the settings sorted...obviously. Yes, I am using Internet Explorer. I managed to go around the embargoe by using my: Rather than the line at work. One step forward two steps back.
It could well be the firewall. When I used my Internet doggle it let me download Java. I go back to a highly firewalled connection and i have issues. I'lll try using my doggle again. Lol. No worries.
Try getting into chat by http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/addonchat.php Not that that's probably gonna help you much... Pop ups blocked? Too late at night to be talking about this
Sorry I could not be of more help. I mean, yah, I am getting sort of the same message and I think it is because of my zone alarm. I guess I could have added that.. And that it could be because you need to enable your javascript/adobe in the internet tools > options > content. It looks as though it is related to movie/game content. Well, hope you find out because I need to too. Is everything updated as much as it can be?
Apologies for the sarcasm. I thought it was the updates, as the computer had not been touched in a long time. It wasn't that. I did this: enable your javascript/adobe in the internet tools > options > content. That didn't help. It was the connection. I'm in now. Works fine. I do know there are multiple reasons why the red x apppears...hope you find a solution.

I was being a gentleman by saying "thanks". And all I got was some sexual innuendo. I'm sorry. Forgive me.
