    Hey all,

Just a quick question..i recently started putting rubber bands in my noobish dreads, one at the root and one at the tip..My questions are:

    1. How long can i safely leave them in?

    2. I looped them twice over the dead, as looping once left the band really loose. Having looped it twice it is firm but can still move freely up and down the lock. Obviously i dont want to hurt the dread in any way, so is looping it twice ok? :hat:

i would only leave them in until u first wash.
after than its kinda pointless because ur hair will get looser before it gets tighter.
and the rubber bands will get eaten in the dreads apparently.
never happened to me, but thats what people say.
plus after washing them they get slimy.
    gross.

Most people say no more than a week because the rubber bands will like be digested by your dreads. I put a few rubber bands onto a couple of my dreads and didn't have any issues after 7 days. Pretty sure Amybird had alot of sucess with rubber bands

As for looping.. depends how big they are. Don't want it to tight or = hard to get them out. But you don't want them to loose or they'll fall out. Just so its snug ya?

    Peace

I've had success with them too. I thought that they helped the hair near the roots lock up. I wouldn't leave them in for any longer than three weeks and keep an eye on them.

Putting bands in your hair breaks them at the roots when you take them out thus weakening the dreads, never used them & mine turned out ok, bands restrict movement which is needed to promote tangles, restricting movement means it takes longer to dread

take them out now. it will break your hair and get sucked in. plus it prevents hair from matting.

If they're loose around the dreadlock, why don't you try beads ;)

Just follow your own instincts and keep an eye on them, because there's no black and white rule for the particular experience you'll have with them.
