should fitzy run a 5 mile race? seriously? i might be able to win the super heavyweight division - i can get down to a lean 225lbs by mid july...what? i can. don't doubt me
5 mile fuckall...... I wont run 5 miles in a week let alone one solid race. Best of luck....with the race, I mean.
copied this off of google answers for "How fast a person walks?" When I was a Guide, we were taught that a normally fit person at an normal walking pace does 20 minute miling, ie 3mph. This doesn't account for stopping to eat cake or talk to horses in fields though, which always throws out my timing on walks...
Hm, well it takes me a little less than 30 minutes to do 2 miles power walking. So...I don't think it would take 2 hours of jogging to reach 5 miles, but I don't know.
So that wasn't you who recently collapsed at the finish line of the Boston Marathon and rushed to Mass General - ok Hotwater
Prize money is awesome if you can win your division. i won a 1,000 dollar purse at a 10k once (god, this was like 10 years ago now). It was broken up by age division though, not weight. The training by not running though, I think is stupid, esoecially if you want to win and want to be under 8 minutes. When I was competitive I would run for two hours or 10 miles, which ever came first and would lift weights, do sprints and do mobility for another hour with a coach.
i was joking about the no running training haha. there are age divisions as well, but my chances of winning that is probably really low...so i will enter the superweight division - which has no age i don't think any prize money, but there are awards...probably a trophy plus you get a free shirt and i get to help out the club - so win win
Dude, 5 miles is a pretty cruisy distance. Mid july? You could be in shape for this by mid may, if you wanted to. My only argument against would be runners are skinny, and as far as I can tell, you don't want to be skinny.
yea, i have no desire to be skinny. but i can work my training around to continue to get stronger and just bump up my condititioning work - and run 2 times a week. i haven't ran any since last fall
Running sucks. I can't stand running. I also get shin splints something awful. But if you want to run this contest, you could be in shape for it really quickly. You're only gonna get skinny if you run regularly, of course. All you gotta do is make the decision. If you have until mid July, the actual training for it is gonna be a piece of piss.
yea, i hate running unless it is for sport otherwise i rather push/pull my sled, use my sledgehammer, or use the c2 rower at the gym, and some other things...but running *bleh*
