I did the same thing. I snipped off some of my sweet dog's hair a week before she died (sounds weird - but she told me she was going to go soon, we had a very strong connection). Took me a full year before I had the emotional strength to crochet it into one of my dreads - I still miss her I've been saving my cat's whiskers when she sheds them naturally (I would never cut or pull one out as whiskers have nerve endings). I have 3 that I've found since she was a kitten and plan to weave those into a dread at some point. Her fur is very short and fine, so I feel the whiskers will weave in much easier. She's a fun little pixie, so I'd like to carry a bit of her around with me too
Thats really weird because my pup pup told me too before he went. I was sleeping and had a dream he was licking my face, when I woke up and went to the other room I found him laying there completely lethargic half dead. He recovered for about a week, (i knew deep down it wouldn't last) and the day he finally passed he jumped up onto my bed and cuddled with me all morning (which he never did) and died later that day. I still miss him a ton though he passed a few years ago.
Cheating is when others can see that you have extensions , i have created the ultimate dread extensions using human hair simply mashed into you existing hair and color matched. master in dread locks
please leave the animals alone , we use human hair and it wont smell when wet. regards fellow dreaders

So, I'm really torn on this. I've only come across several sets of synth dreads that I liked, but for me personally, like the way my hair is changing and evolving. But at the same time, I can totally understand where people come from when they want longer dreads fast (I had clip hair extensions when I was dreadless and they were so fun to put in for fancy occassions and whatnot) It kind of IS cheating, because you're throwing your hair into a style that you didn't nurture. But I would love 'bigger' hair as someone threw out there a few pages back. I'm sure that will come with the age of them though. I see no problem in dreading someone else's or even a pet's hair into my own. Dreadlocks are something you carry with you, that's a very kind and sweet sentiment, and not at all gross if you are groomed. If my cat died and I could magically dread his hair into mine, that shit would be going down with plenty of tears and merlot, and lots of sunshiney feelings everytime I touched it. I like this, this is a good idea, I may be borrowing it.
