I hate, hate, hate the word "hippie" because it's about an image now. It used to mean something and now it's been consumed by commercialism and conformism. Life is not about being a hippie, it's about being a good person. Having dreadlocks, wearing tyedye and smoking erb does not necessarily make you a good person. That's fine if you want a certain image, but soul should come first.
i was informed last week for the umpty umpth time that the "hippie look" isn't cool at work. oh yeah, never heard that one before.
i can't wait until the word hippie and all that's associated with it are completely removed form the here and now. it's so cliché. 75 percent of hipfourmers who claim hippiage are cliché wanna-bes. truth. hurts. ouch. if meet a self proclaimed hippie i end it at 'hello' ive already know them inside out. pathetic. narrow. bow and arrow. bone. marrow.
what's it mean really?? i mean its just a word. like one.. sometimes there is no better way to descibe something simply... like gangster... or dope.. seriously say that there is only one of something without saying the word one... that thing... what thing... how many a thing?? its just a thing.. this has become a ramble.. lol.. at any rate i don't find the term offensive or demeaning. and none of my friends do either.. i guess its just a matter of personal taste.. i have gay friends that don't mind the word fag, and others that do.. but be peaceful in your distaste of the word.. cause its only a word...
Since day one, hippie was a trend promoted from the top. Like any other mass following, it is not grass roots! Trends are heavily funded by corporations, governments and NGOs.
Most people that are part of a group seem to forget that the label applies to the scene/group/subculture/music genre and not to the individual. There have been many threads about this on here but yeah, it seems to be a common mistake. All I can say is we just have to repeat it for them with another couple of threads. Repitition works, David. Repitition works, David.
it can be difficult to enter banks. i`ve had bank tellers whispreing to each other alot. & once, even when i had alot of money in a bank i simply didn`t want to walk in to do business. i took me several minutes to convince them it would be in their best interest to allow me to use the drive thru(walking). there seems to be a kinda prejudice against people walking up to drive thru`s(restaurants or banks,etc..). one would think it would be the other way around. which would be an easier crime? drive thru or inside? or has anyone ever thought about it? i guess there`s more cameras inside, but one could i suppose create more havoc inside as well. how much could one steal from a drive thru? i think hippie dumb has yet to make society really sit-down & think. because many hippies haven`t really been doing it for many years. & i`m sorry this may seem egotistic, but i really haven`t that many people who have done it as long as i. i`m not really proud of it. there were many sacrifices. but i`ve made quite a few unique observations that that even seem weird to other hippies. & there are different levels of hippiedumb.
Hiya,, it's so very nice to meet ya.. Course since you already know me inside and out, no need to say anything more.. Be well Peace
