I'm going to burning man for the first time. i have a small group of friends that are going with me and kind of wondering if there are any vets that have advice about psychs and the desert, things not to do and deffinate must sees while at burning man. i have heard so many things i'm really looking forward to going... any advice is appreciated..
bring any sorts of portable instruments if you play any. Bring a bike also. And some ridiculous looking clothes.
Excellent!! Some day I'm going to get to Burning Man. It's just too long for me to disappear right now. But, in 5-10 years, I think I'll make it. I saw a documentary on it, a while ago...maybe when it was 5 years old or something. It blew my mind. It really made me want to go there. I was so happy to see all those artists doing their stuff. (The documentary didn't mention much if anything about mind altering chemicals people were taking.) Since then I've met a few people who have been and have always wanted to go. I am always trying to come up with some kind of cool, interactive, art thing I could bring and/or do there. I have years to build it...but I have a feeling the time will be gone quickly, so I want to start planning soon. It's hard to come up with something that is original in some ways and is engaging. I've always wanted to learn about solar powered motors so I could set something up that's solar powered with maybe a battery so it worked at night. I've played around with solar cells and electric motors enough as a kid, that I think I could figure it out. You are so lucky. Have fun.
that sounds really cool and i hope to go for many years so hopefully i will get to see your project come to life. i unfortunatly don't play any intruments, but i am looking forward to having my dreads, and getting my tent structure set up so everyone there can paint and draw on it. i really want something memorable for my first time. i also heard about the etheon incampment and i am looking forward to checking out that. and learning more about their way of thinking. cid is my thing. though i believe in moderation. i'm hopeing to find some for my party that is going. i believe that you really have to be responsible and aware of your actions and mindset inorder to do mind altering substances.
Congratulations! Breaking Open the Head: A Psychedelic Journey into the Heart of Contemporary Shamanism, by Daniel Pinchbeck, has a cool chapter on Burning Man. I'm not all the way through it, but it seems like a pretty good book all around. I just thought of it because he did mention the etheon camp I think...and a few others.
