Old tiger stadium is gone (for all extents and purposes)
    bob lo is gone
    the river is not clean
music is no longer free on the riverfront
casinos are there making money but sucking souls
    trash is everywhere
    the economy blows
urban blight and abandoned buildings are growing
crime is as bad as ever

Not trying to be negative, but it's a realistic look at the city.

Oh I agree, there are still good things about it. And there is always hope. Hell I have my share of good memories downtown as well.

It's still quite a stinkhole in the present ;)

I've had enough of this place, this is my last year here.

I like the diverse ethnicity. Born and raised in Metro Detroit. The food is good. The crime is high, the weed is plentiful, but that dam crack is ruining the place. I live 5 miles from Detroit City. It's not as bad as people who do not live there think. If you would travel thru Mexico or Central America, you would be nuts not to go to Detroit because of crime. I have been all over all 3.

I think those that want to rag on Detroit should just start their own thread rather then hijack another's thread. Detroit has it's bad side, but witchcraft keeps it away.
I find lots of things to love about Detroit.
Any festival during the festival season.
    Golden Gate cafe.
Bell Isle. (the secret parts that I know about. walk with me there sometimes. It's like being in a Robert Frost poem).
    All the ethnic food
Mixed people of races, religions, backgrounds, and politics.
    our libraries.
    DIA.
    Science Center.
    Cranbook
    all those great boookstores
All the anarchist in the Corridor
the worst thing about Detroit? Those people shitting on it, raggin on it, rather then being part of the solution.
check out the Evolution Laboratory, UFO factory, or Russell Industrail complex for postive looks at Detroit's future (despite the city council and the crack heads)
oh..and we get the best weed and acid and shrooms

i used to go to raves at the firehouse/joe's compound n shit years ago. also i remember ascensions and the city club (city club is nutz) but i never hung out like in restaraunts or anything like that. i remember when i moved to florida detroit's bus station WAS THE ONLY ONE W/ A METAL DETECTOR lol.
went to the zoo as a kid that was cool
saw the tigers get their asses kicked as a kid
saw barry sanders run for his 2,000 yards in the silverdome
used to walk around royal oak all the time n hang there (comet burger rocks!)

but now i live in florida on the coast. the ppl are much different here, it is WAAAY
more diverse down here (ppl from all over the world come here all the time on Vacation n shit)
used to watch the space shuttle blast off all the time,
saw aligators like 10 ft. or so away from me, big ones too that thought about eating me while hanging on the river drinking beer a couple times
almost pissed on a blackwidow that was like 5 inches from my junk
die from heat n sun in the summer here (you would all melt it's so hot dude!!)
every place has its good and bad, me i was from lapeer,MI small town 20 mins from flint,. but i've also seen most of the country now as well. TRAVEL MY FRIENDS you can alwayz go back home if you wanted, or you might find other places you like ;)
ps: i havent seen snow in like 7 years lol!!! take that one
