there is still some wax in some of them. i got it out in the parts furthest from my head, by various methods. ive been puting them under running hot as hell water in the sink. ive actually even boiled them in a pot in the stove with water and dishing soap once. but couldnt get as close to my head as i wanted in fear of burning my head. the result is wax free ends, then 2-4 cm wax in the middle on some, then wax free what grew out later. the wax in the middle have been reduced some just by washing. i always wash in really hot water. been using different kinds of soap. knotty boy, dishwashing soap, normal hand soap bar, and dr bronners, and now today the deep cleaning mix. only thing that seems to help slightly is the dishwashing soap (not rly sure about today yet), but it also feels like it leves most residue. mostly i think its just been reduced by washing under hot water over and over during my 2 years. tough i still have those 2-4 cm of beeing hard. its not sticky or waxy anymore, just hard. ive never had any other problems with smell or anything. tough in the beginning i palmrolled a lot, and had a lot of wax fall out looking like dandruff, but from the hair, not the scalp. ive allso had a lot of wax coming out by sticking to my hands when palmrolling. but this was a long long time ago. today my only issue with this remaining wax is that it feels odd, and wrong, with the waxy part in the middle. it hardly shows, but i dont like the feel of it. doesnt smell, and havent had any other troubles with it except for the feel of it when i touch my hair
My first post at the forum yay, You have awesome dreads mate, I've read the hole thread and its an inspiration for me. I'm currently still undreaded, but I will start in months with Twist & Rip or Back combing. Hopefully they will turn out like yours, 'cuz that would be awesome xD
maereo, if you go to the top few threads in the forum there will be a thread that link to the "stick icky wax thread" this will help you with your wax removal.
yes vigilanteherbalist, thats what i did this morning before posting my new pictures. i did the gentle version of it tough. didnt have any of the really corrosive ingredients, and had to go with baking soda, apple cider vinegar, and lemon. as my hair have dryed completely now, i see that it didnt do as good against wax as some people claim. but i didnt have tee trea oil. it did a bit better then the other soaps ive used tough. and it did wonders for the rest of my hair. in a month or so maybe i go for the bad ass acid solution
well, unfortunately, it's gonna take more than one treatment. at least that's what i hear. i never used wax.
im not worried vigilante. the amount of wax still in my locks are very small. ive just tryed a different method every few monts during the last 2 years, and each attempt have removed some. im not going to start some war on wax thingy, becuase i like the way my locks have progressed just the way ive been doing it. ill wait a few months, and do another try, like i have always done. that feels more in tune with the neglect ive moved towards too. some day ill feel like making another wax removal attempt.. some day..... i love my locks just the way they are
just looked at your album munky. you look good. but is that rubber bands or something else? do you have curly hair? wish i had curly hair
Boil water in pot add 1 cup baking soda 3 tblsp grapfruit juice 10 drops tea tree oil and 2 tbs sea salt pretty much same thing is deep cleanse but for some reason my dreads being over 2 years as well had alot of wax build up in the center of the dreads and after i washed the rinse out alot of gunk was coming out. Then i boiled water too and dipped my hair and squeezed with rubber gloves and so much wax was coming out, thought im sure you know this cause u stated u did it as well but those locks are lookin sick so as long as the wax isnt bothering you fck it :cheers2:
sounds like we have been taking more or less the same route king. thanks for the compliments. nah, the little wax thats left now doesnt botter me. ill get rid of it some day, but im not stressing it
hehe. im stubborn. i had enough headaches over wax long time ago. cant keep thinking about it when it doesnt cause a problem
